Removing Poly From Nut.
On my Edwards e-lp-98lts the poly finish that is on the binding is also around the nut.
I want to safely remove this yellowish lacquer from the White bone nut. Any chemicals? Razor? Thanks. |

Re: Removing Poly From Nut.
thanks dice.
2 more things. I opened my neck pickup cavity and I can't see the neck tennon inside. Maybe it's a short tenon? Also my bridge is WAY too high. I know it's because of the neck angle is too steep. Can you guy's post a pic your edwards bride height? I'll post some pics soon. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thers so much poly inside that it reflects the light. If you look in the corner of the neck cavity you'll see that its glued on piece of wood in the cavity. Is it wrong? |

Re: Removing Poly From Nut.
My advice would be to leave the nut alone, the tail piece could be lowered when doing a setup. Kind of hard to see but it looks you might have a short tenon(may need glasses)

Agreed.
That bridge sure does look high, though. How is the action? Nut slots might be a tad high as well. The nut looks great - I'd leave it alone. And... short tenon. No biggie. |

Re: Removing Poly From Nut.
Hmm...
The action is low-medium. I guess its the neck angle too steep. I can definetly see a piece of wood in the size of the cavity covering the tenon.... Maybe they needed to hide something? ![]() If it is indeed short tenon then Edwards is "off specs" aren't they? I can see the wood of the neck is one piece from top to bottom. So I think they routed the cavity too deep (F-ed it up), Then glued a piece of wood to re-rout the holes for the pickup adjustment ears. Thats why I can't see the tenon. Besides these few "minor" thigs, the guitar plays like butter. |
