Here are some pictures of a Les Paul that Valery made for me. The workmanship and quality is excellent - better than your Gibson Custom Shop VOS model (I have 2 to compare against). The best part is that you can specify all the components, dimensions, etc. for the guitar. Mine has a neck desigen somewhere in between a 59 and a slim 60. I had stainless steel frets put in (.108). I had Faber locking bridge and tailpiece put on. The pickups were hand wound by Jim Rolph. The wood is Honduran mahogany for both the neck and body (non-weight relieved). The fret board is East Indian rosewood. As you can see, the top is AAA flame maple. His communication is excellent and he posts images and comments as he builds the guitar, so you can see it every step of the way. Absolutely the best guitar I have for the money. Yes, he is building me another!

Wow, that's good for you. How did you pay for it?
I've been watching this with interest but to be honest, I didn't feel comfortable sending 2,500 USD to someone in Belarus. If things were to go wrong, good luck getting your money back. Paying by Paypal is no help because you only have 45 days to file a claim, which is way less than it takes to build a guitar. I don't mean to offend by saying this but I think this is a stumbling block for a lot of people, and if this builder needs more business he might have an easier time selling finished 59 spec'd guitars so that buyers have the paypal protection. |

Here is a link to Valary's build blog. He chronicles the complete making of the guitars. Mine is the violin sunburst. The guitar is about 1 month old and I a breaking it in daily

How are the stainless steel frets for you? I'm having a Les Paul built myself by another builder (just starting) and am seriously thinking about those. Do you hear any difference in tone? Somehow I'm more hesitant to do this with a LP than a Strat (where I have them too). They're so comfortable to bend though, and you never have to worry about wear.

They are great. I have .108s in it and I recommend the Jescar fret wire. I spec'd this LP out myself and have other customs with ss frets. They are (obviously) harder on regular steel string. I went to a higher output pickup to lessen any "brightness" in both a newer wood guitar and the frets. I am having another built - this time Korina - and will use the stainless again.
