And no matter how many times it is asked, the answer remains consistant.

Click the image...I wrapped a link to it.
If you want words, images, stories and the works...check out this thread. It's a build thread filled to the brim with little details.

Unmissable, in my humble view.

That's actually pretty funny!
You asked who makes them, not who sells them.
Max will not sell you one.
I'm sure Gibson watches Max's every move.
(I think) Roman will, if you don't mind that it has "Rist"
instead of "Gibson" on the headstock.

Peter “Max” Baranet with Slash.
Slash is holding the guitar that Max made for him,
although Max can't remember making it.
(Notice that the picture doesn't show the headstock)
Slash made an album using the guitar called
"Appetite for Destruction”

Re: Best 59 replica?

About a year ago - I had no idea what his prices are like - I emailed MAX about it. He was still selling them at the time, however he wasn't making them. Had a small stash of guitars he had built.

As I recall, it's 5,000 for what is basically a flame maple topped studio, and 10,000 for the real deal. Overpriced, and overrated.

Re: Best 59 replica?

I thought Roman said on his web site to not even ask him to build a 59 burst.

Anybody know much about these guys?

Eastern Maple Carved Tops

They are on MLP. I was curious to know how accurate their bodies are to a real 59. They don't actually say they are patterned after a 59 but they do say "late 50s" so I just assumed 59.

If you got a '59 Les Paul Max replica for 10g's you got a bargain. If you think he's over rated, you're really in the minority.

I'm assuming you havent played one.

How can you possibly conclude that something is overrated by looking at a picture online?

The kits we sell are dead on to 1959 les Pauls.
Replicas are becoming a dime a dozen really, but it's the details that really allow the great ones to stand out. There are particular methods used by Gibson in the 50's that leave tell tale markings in the cavities that are impossible to replicate unless the original methods are used.
They are only visible with the guitar disassembled and the electronics removed, so make sure to get detailed photos if you're in the market.
The best way to make sure you get a very accurate one is to know exactly what to look for.
Here are a couple made from our kits;

Goldtop

Burst

If I ever decide to build a "project" guitar, it's going to be one of the "Eastern Maple Carved Tops" builds.

You got no respect kid, and no money either. You are way out of your league on this. Stick with your Epi's or Agiles.

Besides prices are higher than that........with a waiting list.............not to mention coaxing him out of retirement. I don't think you have big enough boobs to do that.

Slowly.............. step back................ and stay away from the "r", "e", "p", "l", "i", "c", and "a" keys on your computer.

Seriously, if you have to ask on a public forum, you are not in the ballpark to get one.

There are folks that won't even do one for you unless they know you.

Sorry, no disrespect Roman..but i've been in music long enough to know this is a wee tad of BS. it's to CREATE the Insane Prices for those replicas. NO hand build guitar is worth 10 000$..let alone 15 000$. I'm not talking about "if you want it..it's worth it" kinda thing here, i'm talking logical prices.

the MYTH that Gibson will take you for everything you own real helps create this weird wibe around them also..not saying that if someone advertise like crazy and starts pumping them at a rate of 1 a week that GIbson wont take action, but Companies have better things to do the start shutting down small home builders realy.

Re: Best 59 replica?

Replicas get priced after a percentage of the real thing. Of course pure rational value can't be found: there probably isn't. If you take into consideration though the research it took and other factors, there is some rationale tied to higher prices.
If you find ANYone doing a great job with a 1959 LP replica at a cheap price though, please let me know. I would be really curious.
