80's Greco finish

Can anybody tell me if 80's vintage greco's are poly or nitro finished? The EG500 specifically. I'm considering one for a refinish project, but the thought of stripping poly may be a deal beaker.

Thanks in advance

Most any Greco EG-500 I have seen is poly finished... But I suppose there could be an exception out there. Josh
