Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

Would someone care to explain WTF this is exactly?

Looks legit to me... but damn right odd.

It was probably a special order. I believe Orville did some special orders....am I correct?

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

I read the link about the Spotlight Special (thanks LV, you obviously know your Gibsons!) but I find it strange that ObG would reissue this guitar almost 10 years after the Gibson original... Unless as Gammy says, this is a one-off custom order for a particular client and has nothing to do with it's Gibson counterpart. Also, I've never heard of this as either an ObG model or an ObG ReIssue model...

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

its one of 5 demo models made for the tokyo guitar show in 1994, and pictured for the late 1994 ObG catalogue, rarest of the rare in ObG terms. solid flametop.

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

the top on that OBG looks better than any Gibson SLS that I have ever seen

Congrats to you Mark; that is about as rare as rare will get IMO .............

AFA The Gibson versions & the idea that they may be a 'neck thru' = total BS ..........

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

Looks similar to a Greco Go (Alembic copy) neck through but just shaped as a LP.

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

A neck through LP would be a good guitar for Gibson to introduce instead of some of the other crap they put out.

Re: Weirdest ObG I've ever seen..

That is a very nice looking LP. Loved the Gibson Spotlights and 151000 Yen seems like a pretty good price for that Orville version - although I'm assuming you got stung for import duty and VAT.
