Other Les Pauls has been slow recently, I'm taking it upon myself to provide CPR.

Some sick and twisted character has sawn the bout off of an ObG Standard.

this is true, but a guy who does this to a guitar when he could just have easily have bought a variation of a telecaster custom reissue with a contour is also a tool. more so if he wants to sell it later

I do love LPs and tele's equally but it's not the same. For me the the angle of the LP neck just works.

It looks more like it was sanded or filed down through rather than cut the maple is just worn through to the mahogany. Still not something I would do I reminds me of when Vlad "modded" his Tokai

Silly response. Guitars mean different things to different people, the only person being a 'tool' is the one who can't understand that. Guns are tools, does that mean every Gun collector should go out and kill people with them? How about Vintage cars? Heck, why even bother to fix them up, they're just 'tools' to be driven, who cares what they look like.

Why do you even own a Les Paul? All you need is a cigar box, some wood and strings and you've got your "music making tool". Assuming everyone sees them the same way you do is shortsighted, they have value beyond their primary function as an instrument, and are viewed by alot of people as collector pieces. I agree that he did what he had to to the guitar to make it playable to him, but you should be able to see why people would have a problem with it.

whats with all the 'tool' labeling? so i'm a tool & shortsighted because i express an opinion that's comes from a different perspective to yours? i.e. a guitar as a musical tool as opposed to something collectible.

i never said that i didn't understand why people collect guitars, so i think your rant is quite misguided. as for cars, guns (thinking you must be american) etc, i couldn't care less ...

i do believe the original intention with creating the guitar was to use it to make music with, not to collect. Perhaps you disagree with this too?

why do i own a les paul? i like they way they look & play ... but above all, i love the way they sound. i doubt that a cigar box, some wood and strings would sound the same

i can see why some people would be upset with what he did to the guitar, but who cares? it's his guitar!

i know a guy who plays in a semi-successful punk band here in australia (they have been around for 25 years) who was sick of having his guitars stolen from venues (he used Gibson SG's) so he started carving words into the bodies on the front e.g. C*NT, F*CKER etc ... you get the idea.

he even did this to an original '61 SG that he got when he was a kid. guess what? he never had a another guitar stolen. he still does it to this day. he told me the outrage that people in guitar shops would express when he took his guitar in to be fixed or serviced - some guys would tell him how stupid they thought he was & call him names & carry on. he thought it was hysterical.
