Want a Dobro, so am I crazy?

I want to get this thing, been considering it for years, years!!!

I can't now, but probably in the near future. So, I tell a friend about it and I got told the guitar was disgusting, horrible, and that I'm somehow crazy for wanting one!

Yes, you are completely insane for wanting a dobro and you deserve to be in a mental institution

Re: Want a Dobro, so am I crazy?

Things on my list of stringed instruments to build and learn how to play..

Dobro is #1
Banjo is #2
Dulcimer is #3

Am I even going to play a dulcimer onstage with Suicide Puppets.... no.. but, it'll look cool with all the other antiques in my house!

Man I wanted a banjo so bad when I was a kid! That's on my list too, but the Dobro is something that's always appealed to me, and lately I've been thinking about it quite a bit.

Can't now, I got an amp project going on, but maybe not that far in the future...

Re: Want a Dobro, so am I crazy?

Take a look at River's link. Go out and play some of those Houndogs and try out some biscuit single cones as well. Those Houndogs used to be very well made before they moved production to China. I've played a couple at GC and they are kind of hit and miss. Some have sounded and played really well while others have been complete duds.

And no, you aren't crazy. But once you start with resonators, you're gonna gas for tons of them.

Man, check this puppy out:

I honestly didn't know Regals were as well-regarded (and expensive) as they are.

Not crazy at all-
Although personally I prefer the biscuit cone to the spider cone--which is what you've posted.
The tri-cones are nice as well-As River posted.

But all of them are nice if they're well made--and they can be expensive.

So maybe one day I'll have one as well.

Regals are not that high of quality but they're decent. The best import resos around are the Republics.

Re: Want a Dobro, so am I crazy?

I've been looking at that Dobro for a while, also looked at some Fenders but not convinced there yet, Fender and resonators for some reason doesn't sound like a match... lol

I've been to the store a couple times to try one, they never have that model, I even asked and the punk who works there said they don't sell well so it'd be a miracle if they ever had one.

I've got this. Fun guitar, but I rarely play it. I don't know why

What's the name on the headstock? Except for that and the color, it looks exactly like Rosie.
