Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I own six or so "Xaviere" guitars...Some are great, some are so-so.....
I'd say their Teles are probably a good bet....Check their "clearance" section for bargains and "dent" sales.....

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
Curious, since you have 6 -- is one of them the XV-580 ? That's the one I'm currently most interested in.....would love to hear from someone who actually has one.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I have an Xaviere XV-560, great guitar for the money. The beauty of them is they come with pretty decent pickups and hardware as standard, hard to beat for the price.
There's been a few threads on them recently http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/my-o...-day-life.html NGD: Xaviere XV_580SS Acoustic Guitar came today

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I just picked up an XV-1250 (the Zemaitis clone, shell top). UNBELIEVABLE guitar, was blown away by the quality of the build, and liked the GFS's enough not to switch 'em out... yet.
They don't make this model anymore (and haven't for a few years) and this one was dead mint, so I didn't get it "cheap" but it's definitely worth what I paid for it... |

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I got one of their jazzmaster style guitars a while back on a clearance sale....IME, you get what you pay for....I've seen worse, but much better even in that price range.
For a tele the Squire classic vibes are awesome....for most examples I've payed I'd much rather have one of those than a more xostly MIM fender branded tele....some of the new Squire vintage modifieds look pretty compelling as well.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
Had a semi hollow LP style with P90's in it. Worst guitar I ever bought. Pickups were half dead. The Neck was fair, but the bridge was only working on the bass side and the treble strings could not be heard. Frets were awlul. They'd keep popping up and caused all sorts of problems for me. I don't mind doing some work on a guitar that responds to the needed adjustments, but come on now. This one was a plank of garbage and I unloaded it for pennies on the dollar but I could care less. At least I got it away from me. I was going to burn it if I didn't!
Today I got a new Squire Standard that is just fine. Finish is great. The frets has only one that's a touch high at the 15th, but that's an easy fix. I learned my lesson with the Xaviere stuff...don't go there is my thoughts...I'll stick with Epi's and Squires for a "value guitar" and avoid the others like they have a S.T.D. !!! Wade

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
My only disapointment with them so far is that I got a great xv-820 Tele that is wonderful but is a blem and has marks on the front paint and scratches on the metal. The blem isn't so much the problem I'm sure I can work something out; rather my disapointment stems from the fact that I wrote them about it last Friday a full 6 days ago and haven't heard from them yet. I guess I'll write them again Friday if I still haven't heard back from them. I'm not hard to keep happy but I like to hear back from people when I have a problem as just quickly as they returned my messages before they had my money. We shall see how it plays out, I'm sure it will work out.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
If it was bought as a blem no one told me about it, and I was charged full price which isn't much in the big picture. Still I don't want to pay full price for a guitar that clearly should have been tagged as a blem and priced accordingly.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I remember your NGD thread for it, and you were so pleased with it, I hope they make good and answer your messages asap, be a shame if they shirked their responsibilities.
I bought an XV-560 from them as a blem for $133, needed a bit of work, but now it's one of my favourites.

I'm still very pleased with this guitar, I haven't had to turn a screw it's set up so well and I'd be happy as a clam if I could keep it for $133 as a blem. The marks aren't right up in your face as evidenced by the fact that I didn't even catch them until after I had posted my NGD thread. Still the guitar is clearly a blem so I just don't feel comfortable paying full price for it in this condition. If getting it at a blem price isn't going to happen I'll make sure they get me a new one. The other thing I didn't mention that is sort of weird is that along with the guitar I bought a classic set up Tele pick guard for the xv-820 in chrome mirror and it didn't fit the guitar. I wrongfully assumed that if I bought an Xaviere classic Tele and and an Xaviere classic Tele pickguard that they would be a match, but it's not even close; you can line it up with the neck or the holes but not both, so that was a huge fail. I'll update the thread when I have more to go on. |

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
I don't know about their guitars because I never tried one, but I do have several of their pickups and they rock. I really like the Crunchy Pat and they come standard in some of their Les Paul copies.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
So an update on my situation within the thread, I did write Guitarfetish about the guitar blem but it was on their general contact us page of their web site. I went back to the delivery confirmation email they sent me and there is a contact option with why you need to contact them ie. returns etc. So I wrote and got a response so it sort of my bad for not using the proper section. So I sent him pics most of which aren't good enough to see the damage as the camera on my phone isn't that good. I figure I'll hear back from maybe Monday and see what he says. There are no more ice blue Tele's to trade it out for I know that maybe a sunburst.

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
OK So I know this is a thread within a thread but I wanted to update the situation. This problems I had were essentially my bad because at first I didn't use the proper method of contacting them. As soon as I went back to the original Email there was a way to contact them and an area for returns, exchanges etc. I got a response the next day asking for some pics which I sent on Friday. Today Monday I heard back and they took the price down to $130 for me and I am so pleased. So in the end there customer service has been outstanding, I was the reason I didn't get a response the first time around. This is a pretty bad azz guitar for $130 and there is even beautiful figuring on the back of the maple neck, more then I expected.
Just can't resist putting up a few pics, here she is...... |

Re: Xaviere GFS Guitar Experience?
Jay at GF is a pretty straight up fella....that is a good thing and bad....I've seen him on forums get a bit passionate with his products.
I have 2 X's....one was a clearance blow out in Seafoam......a few finish flaws but for the price I got it...not going to complain. ![]() My other one is an older Thinline LP....that thing is a blast, full 3/4" cap and a belly cut.

I know that Jay is an absolute cool guy, got him on my twitter. Also I've had to exchange items before with no problems whatsoever. GFS customer service is top notch.

I think that's the thing that everyone wonders about Guitarfetish and their products. Not only are their discriptions over the top but their pictures are always amazing. I know the food never looks as good in person as it does on those high falutin menu's but my 580SS was just as breathtaking when I opened it up as it was in the pictures. As for whether it can take on all comers at any price range I couldn't tell you but take a look at these features and appointments and try to find another guitar with all this for $369. A solid matched SITKA spruce top with rosette/abolone inlays, a rosewood bridge, ebony pegs with abalone dots. Matched solid rosewood sides, solid rosewood back with abolone inlay. Triple body and neck binding, a mahogany neck with rosewood fret board and abalone inside pearl inlays. Gold tuners w/ebony bottons, the Xaviere logo and symbol each pearl inlayed. I think they pulled the impossible off with this one, and I know that in the high end acoustic world this guitar doesn't cost much but for me $369 ain't chicken feed so I wanted to spend wisely and I think I did. I would highly recomend this guitar to anyone looking for quality player on a budget. Last edited by NRBQ; 09-03-2012 at 05:30 PM. |
