Exclamation Should I pull the trigger?

So shopping at guitarcenter this weekend, I came across an FSR Standard Stratocaster. Normally this thing is for 500, but because of their sale it's 357. () To me this seems like a great deal. But, this would be my first Strat, and not knowing anything about them... I don't know. Are the Mexican Strats good? I already checked the fret edges because I have read that those are often bad. But what do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger and walk home with a new guitar, or walk away? Their sale ends Wednesday, so I'll need to know soon. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

You can always use a single coil equipped guitar. Good luck on your decision.

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

You won't lose any money if you decide to run away from it.

That's the price of the China Moderns.

DO IT.

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

Great price (at least from a Canadian perspective)You might save some money going used IMO, but if you are asking about Fender Mexican quality, IMO it's good enough for anybody without CSS (cork sniffing syndrome) who wants a Strat. Even if you don't like sound of the pups, they are easy to swap out and shouldn't set you back more than $100, depending on what you want.

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

Wait, is this the black one? If so, I'd say hell yeah. The lead singer / guitarist from the Arctic Monkeys used to use the GC FSR Strat (I'm pretty sure).

I might have to skip over to my local GC to see if they have that deal too ....

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

This is the only FSR I could find that is as low as you first quoted, when you take off 15%:

Fender FSR Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar | GuitarCenter

Yep, the black on black with the off-white pups.

My GC has it for 420 on sale, but are offering an additional 15% off with no financing for 12 months.

I guess I'll be heading to GC either today or tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be sold, that would suck.

You can check on the GC website to see if it is still in stock. It might not be completely up to date, but it should be somewhat helpful

I like the black FSR because of the black guard and the glossy tinted maple neck. Fender did right on that model in my opinion.

Going there now... Do you think they'll negotiate a little?

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

So I went to GC and it was sold. But the guys there were very helpful and helped me find another store with the same guitar. But they didn't have the extra 15% off. So after talking to them for a while, they said bottom dollar would be 400 + tax = 428. What do you guys think? Good deal, or pass?

Re: Should I pull the trigger?

Fender MIM guitars are well built, good quality guitars. I would not be surprised to learn that the "American" guitars are mostly manufactured in Mexico as well.

are you gonna wait again???you know that musicians friend and GC are one and the same.why not go online and see what you could do there and not pay tax?if the one you get turns out to be crap they will let you return it .not sure what their policy is because the three i bought online were delivered in good shape and just needed a little tweaking to be perfect.

Yes, I'm going to wait.. I'm not good at decisions like this. But Musician's Friend doesn't have it because it is an FSR for Guitar Center. And I can only get this good of a price until the 4th and I would need to negotiate online on their website, which is a pain. I'm going to wait and sleep on it and call in the morning to reserve it if I'm gonna buy. But do you think 400 is good?
