Anyone into steampunk?
For some unknown reason I happen to dig the hell outta steampunk contraptions. I just happened to stumble across this page.
Ten Incredible Steampunk Guitars - 1-800-Recycling I'm wondering if any of these would sound good when played or if they're just another artform now. btw.. I was really glad I didn't see an LP in the bunch.

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
I like the look, it's pretty retro-cool. I really dig the Rhoads V, and the Turser.
Check out this thread for a killer amp in this æsthetic: anyone have a steampunk LP |

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
its not just a fashion statement, but also a different wing of sci-fy. it mixes the elements of science-fiction which is the gizmos, the gadgets, the technology, but throws in a bit of fantasy with the Elizabethen and war fashion, and then throws in a fiction alternative universe in terms of time play.
just google it, steam-punk is awesome. these two can sort of be classified under steam-punk. more industrial stuff: ![]() and more fantasy based stuff ![]()

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
I started making a steampunk inspired guitar about a year ago out of a 1970s Ventura body that was butchered by the previous owner (beyond repair, so decided to do something different with the looks). It started coming along, until I realised that it probably wasnt gonna work out. Lots of metal and screws and plating in the guitar will most likely make it sound like crap, and since I couldnt be bothered investing so much time in an "art" piece, i threw it away.
Just make sure if you're gonna do; do it right. I had copper piping and cogs running from the neck through to the humbucker and a switch to turn on flickering neons under the pipes. Sounded cool, but bloody hard to implement.

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
Alex and Geddy should be playing these on the new Rush tour.
The steampunk theme they have going on is awesome.

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
Got another Strat body and thinking along the lines of a steampunk look. I have another copper pickguard that has been patina'd and I think that would look cool on a highly flamed maple top, tobacco sunburst Strat body. What do you guys think?

Re: Anyone into steampunk?
Steampunk is cool stuff.
Think about the movie Wild Wild West with Will Smith, remember all the contraptions? The steam powered bicycle, steam powered wheel chair and the giant steam powered spider are Steampunk type things. Back on topic, a Steampunk Tube Amp
