2012 Kramer Baretta Special
For being a low end beginner guitar, this is a quality piece for the price and a good mod platform.
First, all the things that came stock. This is a solid mahogany body. It's not a balsa wood plywood special. The vintage trem is just ok but I immediately decked it and put two more on the claw. Nut is plastic but was cut decent. The dealer and luthier worked with it minimally, and the fret work didn't have any sharp ends so yeehaw. 22 frets, Rosewood board, 12 inch radius, easy to play. Tapping is incredibly easy, so easy. All I wanna do is tap forever and ever on this thing. I'm actually really surprised at how easy and fun this is to play. Mods out the box were: Duncan JB and a 500 k CTS pot for the volume. I was gonna get the jack changed out and improved but it's a barrel jack so I'm gonna wait. As mentioned before, this is a breeze to play with its wide board and fluid feel. Straight up, this is a high gain, hair metal / solo machine. Cleans suck. The Vol pot can be rolled back to do cleans in a pinch, but this is meant to be full throttle. For a hundred eighty bucks stock, it's a good deal. On par with a quality Squier to mod and enjoy. This will be my pickup tester if need be. Solid mahogany and 25.5" scale, so it's like the Strat and the Tempest. Thumbs up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: 2012 Kramer Baretta Special
I decked the trem and put five springs on there. With that being said, it holds tune well for a beginner guitar. The local dealer here in San Antonio, Mojo Guitar Works, did a full setup on it and some light nutwork.
I don't have any complaints. It reacts to the weather like the Fender and Schecter but it doesn't stay in tune perpetually like they do., |

Re: 2012 Kramer Baretta Special
I think these are great, and the vintage whammy certainly wouldn't prevent me from getting one, but I'm still hoping that they'll come out with a Baretta Classic or Vintage with a Floyd. So, I've been holding off because as soon as I'd buy one, they'd come out with a Floyd model. Maybe there will be some new Kramers from Summer NAMM...

I'm with you, a floyd model would be a must buy, but to me a Kramer without a floyd just aint right.
