Guild made in USA?
Which Guilds are made in USA?
Guild themselves doesnt say much about this so I figured that the smart people here would know. Ive heard that only the GAD-series guitars are made in China and the rest are made in USA.

Re: Guild made in USA?
Guilds since being incorpated by fender in the early 90's if memory serves are built under FMIC control, much like modern Gretsch guitars, the few made in the USA are very high priced pieces usually from fenders custom shop in CA, then the more affordable yet higher end are MIJ, and the mid range MIK/MIC and I've heard some come from indonesia.
You probably find more details in a Guild-centric forum.

Re: Guild made in USA?
I would not buy a Guild unless it was made in Rhode Island. My 1984 D15 that I used to own was made there. 30 years it took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. Workmanship was fantastic on an entry level guitar. No frills just great tone.

I've had my 72 D40 since it was new. It was my first good guitar and I shore do love this one. They are no doubt great guitars. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that I wouldn't buy a new one especially the ones made in Japan. I own both old and new Japanese made acoustic and electric guitars and I've got to say that they are every bit as good and in some cases better than any Martin, Guild, Gibson or Fender ever made. ![]()

Re: Guild made in USA?
Have my eye on a 70's Goya acoustic made while under Martin control and its a nice player.
Jap Or Korea no way to tell but is a great guitar. A few older Guilds have made their way to my house but dollars talk and I sold them. |

Re: Guild made in USA?
The acoustics are currently being made by the same folks who make Hamer USA guitars in the New Hartford, CT shop and are of as nice a quality as any they have ever made.

Re: Guild made in USA?
So basically I will need to dish out 3 grand in order to get an american made guild? Not that I dont mind japanese made guitars cuz I think that they are great but should I go with a vintage guild instead?? Oh btw Im talking about resale value and quality.
