Re: Show your Ibanez!
Quote:
I told them I might be interested in the 77FP, but really wanted the LNG and I'd keep waiting for a while. Fast forward to June 4, 1988. I was at a different music store, Cuzin Jed's Guitar Shed (welcome to Missouri) where Joe Satriani was doing a signing and clinic before his show at the Uptown that night. Not Jem related, but funny anecdote - My good friend actually had Satch sign an issue of Guitar for the Practicing Musician that had one of his tunes in it. He took the magazine, paged through to the transcription and looked at it for a couple minutes and then said "That's not right" with a smile and a little teasing lilt to the "right." He signed the mag and handed it back. So, after we get through the line, I run into...my salesman from Big Dudes. His name totally escapes me, unfortunately. He said "We got you an LNG. We found one unsold in inventory in a store in Oklahoma and it should be here next week." So, I met Satch and found out I was getting my LNG, then later that evening saw Satch in concert the same day. It was a good day. Quote:
I always found it ironic, however, that Vai never really played the LNG that much. He plays one in the Stand Up video: but once the FP came out he mostly played those and once the VWH came out, he hardly plays anything else. |

Re: Show your Ibanez!
The Universe and other uniquely colored Ibanez's have their place in the companies history. I like them as well. And you're right. One guys opinion on an internet forum? Who gives a shit.

I have two more semi-hollow guitars, but I can't give preference to any of them. They all have their own unique voice. One of them - '07 MIK Epi Sheraton II with Gibson Classic 57/57+, and other - mid '90s MIK Epi Sheraton II with Schaller Golden '50 pickups. |

Re: Show your Ibanez!
My 1991 Ibanez Frank Gambale FG100. Hardly ever see these around. It's a crazy guitar, with the recessed neck, trem, pickup rings, etc. Vintage frets on a shred guitar is rather odd as well.

WOW!. What a collection. The last few looked very much like Westone Thunder 1's
& 1a's

Re: Show your Ibanez!
I only own one, but I am positively obsessed with Ibanez. <:
This one's my main axe. The pickups are hot pink, just bad lighting. ![]() RG350EX with Dimarzios, Edge Pro w/ locking stud mod, brass block, killswitch, etc. etc. Not too special, but she's been through a lot. Very special guitar to me.

Re: Show your Ibanez!
So i've never opened this thread cuz i dont have an ibanez nor have i ever....and let me say OMFG there's some nice guitars and some lucky sob's that own them in this thread.
Damn fine bunch of fiddles in this here thread indeed, very impressive thread guys.....so heres a question for you ibanez owners....my local music store has one like Joey has here but W/OUT the handlegrip cutout,it has a Floyd Rose and the trem seemed very tight on it and it just felt blah overall. He's askin $160 The owner keeps the trem bars behind the counter for teens wantin to divebomb im guessin'. So could this model be worth a chit w/ some TLC? Or just stay away from it? For now i dont have a model number due to setting it back down so fast, but the interest is there, just encertainty. Any 411 would be helpful, pretty much everything else on the guitar looks like Joeys.

Re: Show your Ibanez!
The lower-end Ibanez guitars, in my opinion, aren't generally worth fooling with.
How similar to the picture are we talking, though? That JEM design is oft-faked, and sometimes quite poorly, at that. If it really is similar in every way minus the handle, you might want to be careful...considering it's from a music store, I doubt that's the case. Just throwing it out there, though! |

Re: Show your Ibanez!
I didnt realize the ART100 is a set-neck guitar. It actually looks really nice. I dig it.
