Kurt Cobain Jaguar...What?

Just went on to Fender.com, and saw they released a Cobain Jaguar.

Its based off of his 1965 Jaguar (if you dont know the one, look up Teen Spirit live at the World or anything by Nirvana from 91-92)

There is no player who deserves a signture model more than Kurt Cobain, he is the epitomy of Fender guitars...but how did they get past Courtney Love?

I want one, I need one, and I only posted this to inform other Nirvana fans of this AMAZING event.

R.I.P Kurt

IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Re: Kurt Cobain Jaguar...What?

Awesome guitar - one of the coolest sig models I've ever seen.

Hate Fender? They actually know how to run a guitar company, which is refreshing. Solid well designed roadworthy instruments.

Anyway, back to lounging on the couch and playing my '65 Jag...

Re: Kurt Cobain Jaguar...What?

Courtney is probably getting a percentage of the profits

I personally like it, and agree with Diceman. Fender tends to know what they're doing, and (in my opinion) tend to be sturdier than Gibsons.

Plus they are actually shipping guitars right now

This guitar is all wrong...he was left handed playing right handed, so to have the same feel as he did this should have been a left handed guitar for the vast majority of right handed fans......oooppssss fender...

Really? Not a big fan but I've never seen him with a right handed Jaguar before

Not quite Nic...

He played a majority of left handed guitars. Occasionally I believe he would play a righty, but for the most part he played leftys.

Re: Kurt Cobain Jaguar...What?

The only righty-played-lefty guitars I've seen Kurt Cobain playing were Univox HiFlyers and a Mosrite Gospel. Weird, due to the body shape they must've felt more like Strats in that position...

As for the "hate Fender" comment, they make nice guitars and are well-managed, but they hold no appeal to me. If Gibson went under, I'd be buying secondhand and pseudo-Pauls (copies) for the rest of my life.

"Get past Courtney?" It was probably her idea.

Kurt would have hated the commercialization, too. Buying one shows disrespect for Kurt.

Also, wtf is unique about it?

If you look at the specs, you will see it comes with Dimarzio super distortion and 36th anniversary pickups stock. That's what, a $150 deal?

It has a bound fretboard which isn't common at all on Fenders.

The controls are modded so its more like Kurts original.

It isn't just another Fender run of the mill guitar. It is weird and different than most normal Jaguars, just like Kurts was. Plus you don't have to pay over 2K for a Vintage jaguar with bound neck and dot inlays, and it already has the humbucker routes.

I agree, there seems to be a lot of value in this model, for a new Fender. The bound board and quality pups make it raise an eyebrow, especially at the price point.

While I have no clue what Cobain's control mods were, I think you've gotta be a grinch not to dig these features at this price point...assuming you're into buying new.

I concur.

If I had the money to, I would definitely buy it (especially since I'm getting VERY into Fenders).

Any idea where this is made? USA or Mexico? Japan? I tried looking and couldn't find it, but it was probably right in my face and I was too stupid to see it.

I'm wondering where it's made too. It's under a grand in uk, so must be Mexican. It's got £150 worth of pick ups for a start!

If its really mexican made, I feel like the regular Classic Players are a better buy, just upgrade the pups and you have the same sound for cheaper...

Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special HH Electric Guitar: Shop Guitars & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

and the best part, Courtney doesn't get any money from the Classic Players
