short scale guitars....
Do you like shor scale guitars, like the squier jagmaster or Gibsons Birdland? I like them becaue I dont have to reach so far for the lower end of the fretboard.

Re: short scale guitars....
1969 Byrdland (see in pic at left). The tone of the neck pickup is pure jazz. The fretboard is 23.5" and lightning fast ebony.

Jackson fusion H-H models are the tits I love em'.
Mahogany Dinky body, 24.75 scale bound neck, two humbuckers and a floyd. Mine has been thru the mill and has lots of battle scars but plays like a dream.Pick up wise now its got a set out of a L.P. 490R and 490T.RS guitarworks pot upgrade kit and Hoveland cap.

Re: short scale guitars....
I think the OP means shorter than 24.75--but I could be wrong.
Yes Gibson uses a shorter scale than a Tele or a Strat, but when I think short scale I think 24" or less. Now having said that I love my Mustang with a 24" scale--it's great for learning tricky stuff where a longer scale could be an obstacle. Then when I learn it on the Mustang I can normally play it on a longer scales.

Re: short scale guitars....
Brian May's guitar has a 24in scale. That's about as short as I would want.
He's selling his own like of guitars now! Brian May Guitars - The Official web site for Brian May Guitars

Re: short scale guitars....
I have one of those Jagmasters you mentioned, that I bought from another member. It is a dang nice guitar, regardless of being made in Asia. Its grain is nice, the finish is slick as snot on a glass doorknob, and the fit of all the parts is very good. I'll keep this one....

Re: short scale guitars....
This one's not mine, but I've played it--it's a lot of fun.
It's tuned a 4th higher. Otherwise the strings flap. But I wouldn't want it for my main guitar.

Re: short scale guitars....
I have 6 Rickenbacker 325's. They are small, but you get used to it. I have full scale deluxe 355 and it feels weird.
I also have an old Mustang and a Squier Super sonic. The Mustang is a wicked rock and roll machine. Very playable. The super sonic feels tiny, but I have also owned jazzy's which are bigger guitars. My favorite guitar is a flying v which feels huge after a round of "ticket to ride" on one of the ricks.

Re: short scale guitars....
I gotta say....
that new pawn shop series MIJ Mustang with the strat hardtail bridge and the two 'buckers is definitely intriguing. I dug the two I played at GC (one more than other, predictably). |
