the perfect number of guitars and why?
Considering that i live in a small apartment, what would be the cheapest arsenal of guitars?
My thought is: 1 acoustic-electric, 1 LP, 1 superstrat w/ tremolo. Feel free to share. PS. I am not interested in collecting guitars, etc. I am only concerned with saving space whilst having access to most sounds. |

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
I live in a small house with my family, so space can be an issue. I must admit that it isn't the guitars that take up space. I have a Strat, Les Paul, and a Bass. My bass amp is HUGE! So I'm looking to get a smaller one. I also has a big Peavey amp. That was also too big. I, instead went with an Epi Valve Jr head. Now, I have the space that I need. With my riddles in their bags and stored, space isn't really an issue now.

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
I would love a nylon string classical guitar too! To save space i would recommend the Yamaha Silent Guitars for acoustic and classical.

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
Eventually the guitars will out number the ex-wives.I've bought four just this past year.Only lost one wife.Guitars don't bitch, don't eat and have never taken up as much space as a snarling spouse. You decide when to quit wanting more.

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
I was gonna say a Variax, but you beat me to it. Then all your guitar needs are covered, so to speak. Mine has come in very handy.
But you need two in case you pop a string mid-set...

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
In seriousness, you're covered for just about any gig with:
1./ Humbucker electric 2./ Single-coil electric 3./ 12-string electric 4./ 6-string acoustic 5./ 12-string acoustic And for most gigs, you won't need either of the acoustics or the 12-string electric, and may only need one of the electrics. But I'm one of those anal-retentives that HAS to have a duplicate of my #1 (or at least something similar) in case I break a string.. Now, how many guitars do I WANT? The list is endless. I still don't have a Ric 620/6, Ric 360/12, a PRS, an EDS1275, an ES339 or an SG. I don't have any Gretsches, but wouldn't mind a Country Gentleman, Tennessean, White Falcon, Duo Jet or a Bo Diddley. An original Hagstrom Swede would be nice, along with a couple of old Hofners and a Vox or two... And because I'm who I am, I would have to get two of each...

Re: the perfect number of guitars and why?
That pretty much sums it up doesn't it?
I posted up thread that I thought the perfect number was three: A Tele or Les Paul A SG or Strat And an acoustic But immediately after I posted that I remembered that I would like to grab an ES-335 type guitar at some point. And then I remembered that I wouldn't mind grabbing an Ibanez-type Superstrat just for shits and giggles. And then I remembered that I also want to grab a cheap Strat and a cheap Tele so that I can learn to do mods of various kinds without using any of my good guitars as guinea pigs (I guarantee that I will screw up the mods several times before getting them right). But once those guitars are modded I will, of course, play them (I'd like to make the Tele into a Keith Richards Tele). And then I'd like to grab an....oh dear.

I love Telecasters with a passion, but in all honesty you can get plenty of twang from a Strat with a nice set of pups. I would say get a LP, a Strat and the Acoustic. I don't know, I got a few but find myself playing the Agile all the time. My amp's been taking a vacation since I got the FastTrack interface, lol....
