Snakeskin on green

Rondos SX line. SJM, now called 'Liquid' in the new models.

problems.
strings didn't line up over pups.. bridge wrong, too..
pup routes wrong in guard..
and guard was ugly white.. did nothing for the green guitar color.

Had only a little snakeskin left but I figured out a way to cut the piece up so it would fit.

Now. you can take the lower portion of the guard off to get at the electronics and not have to take off the strings..

Wilkenson pup in bridge.. new electronics. grover tuners.. roller trees..
did a fix on the whammy.. it was clicking metal to metal.. quiet now.
Guitar sounds great.. plays really nice.. and I now like the color just fine!

You can see the tape on the bit that was missing.. I have to make a better piece for this, this is just a prototype piece..

here's the missing spot

Here's the temporary fix

You wont know it's a patch when I'm done.

Re: Snakeskin on green

That looks really slick, especially with the chrome chicken head knobs.

Re: Snakeskin on green

I had these mini dome knobs.. tele style. with abalone inserts .. which really looked good with the green.. but they were nearly hidden in snakeskin color..
so I went with those chicken heads.. I like 'em!

white background would do it.. but right now it's ice covered snow so I'll skip that!

They come with the knobs too far forward in the guard.. a little sweep with picking and you'd knock that vol. control every time.
so I moved 'em back. had to take a little material off but no biggee. very odd shaped route.. like a figure 8 sort of.. so the pots were joined by a narrow route.. so I don't think I did it any damage.
besides these things only cost around a hundred bucks.

the shapes not for everyone.. a jaguar with a sort of explorer or firebird butt on it.
But I dig it..

Now I just gotta get me a flying car..
