If I remember right it is an alparts replacement. The one to get that's a wrap around is one that has the two adjustable intation bridge saddles. Can't remember who makes it though. Maybe someone can pipe up. I should have never sold the red one! Kickin myself everyday about that one!

Right. Im about to do it. Bastards.

Will a F-Bird fit in a standard square strat type case or are just they too long?

Re: Firebird Freaks!

Hi No Static

Birds (REVERSE) are just way toooooo Looooong but they may fit in a BASS case, if you do some mode to the neck support area to allow for the angled headstock and Banjo tuners etc

I'd like to change my tuners because they're really terrible...

StewMac is out of Steinberger Gearless Tuners, where can I find some of these?

Anyone tried the Sperzel Custom Shop?

I grew fond of Firebirds a while back and have a pretty neat collection going. All mine are vintage Ibanez and Greco F/birds...I just love them!

Re: Firebird Freaks!

Hello Folks,

I'm new to the site, but needing a bit of help. Does anyone know where I can get a case to fit a 60s non-reverse Firebird? Or what model of existing commerical cases will work? I tried one of those gator cases, but it just doesn't support the neck enough. Thinking maybe an SKB-66, one of those universal ones, but can't find one in the flesh to try it out. Any help in this area would be most appreciated.

Mick

Re: Firebird Freaks!

Ok knocking the dust off this old thread.. cough cough..

The man himself, Allen Collins shown with the '64 Firebird I that was his main guitar, handmade set in maple neck (got backed over by a car and destroyed the original neck.. ouch!) Gibby mini humbucker in the neck mounted in an Epiphone ring, with a tenon cover between the neck and pickup to hide the maple neck, P-90 under a chrome cover reputedly from a '63 ES-330, and a vintage German made early '60s knifedge type tremolo taken from a Hopf guitar:

Now a pic or two of the Allen Collins style Gibson Custom Shop Firebird I that I started on a couple of months ago:

Still some tweaking to do, shim under the P-90, going to change the mounting ring for the mini humbucker, overall was a fun project to do, but took a TON of research and hunting to identify and then actually find one of the mega rare Hopf tremolos.

This is true. Some ass-face-no-name from FL who did a great job refinishing my '63 Melody Maker absolutely ****ed up my '76 Greco Firebird by sanding down the steps.

Whoa lookin' mighty fine there Mr. dougk! How's progress going on your Allen Collins banshee? I saw you had replied on the thread and thought I was going to get to see pics of it. If I had seen your work a week earlier, the black one I have, would have been a banshee with the same hardware on it.

I think it'll be happening in the next batch of Banshee's. The 5 spots I opened up for this batch all ended up selling pushing out the A.C. version till the next one.
