How about strings?Did you keep BB's .54 set or go LP STYLE .10-.46?

Re: lucille with bigsby

Hmmmm..as I recall, the strings that came on it were NOT his signature strings but the 10s you refer to. I've switched to 9s then back to 10s then up to 11s . With 11s she absolutely sings just by herself acoustically .Truthfully, I can't notice much difference between the 11s and 9s when I run thru the amp. Incidentally, the T6 fine tuner tailpiece that's on the guitar is a Godsend I believe. I don't think it sucks any tone at all and, as you know, it makes tuning on the fly sooo fast and easy. I'm considering putting one on the R8. Have you noticed any loose particulates inside yours when you shake it?

Re: lucille with bigsby

I realize this is a very late post, but I have a Gibson 'Lucille' and I had a Bigsby G7 installed and I love it. It's everything I hoped it would be, no compromising in the tone and I don't really have issues with it staying in tune either, though I'm not hard on it and mostly use it for songs like SRV's 'Lenny'. I posted some pictures of it to my flicker account, here's the link:

Hope that helps!

Re: lucille with bigsby

Sorry, I appear to have written G7 up there when I meant B7G. Anyways, you get the idea. I doubt I'll ever go back to the standard TP-6 it came with, it's just too slick with the Bigsby and WAY too useful and expressive a feature to have.

Re: lucille with bigsby

Here's a video I did showcasing the Varitone. I was fairly inebriated when I was recording, so I sound like shit mostly, not to mention the volume was WAY too high when recording and it blew out a TON, but the idea's there. I compared its pickups with Burstbuckers too (I had them installed into my AES-720). Hope you enjoy!
