Aftermarket Explorer pickguard... Aluminum or Stainless Steel?

For anyone who has put an aftermarket pickguard on either an Explorer or a Flying V do you recommend aluminum or stainless steel?
Thanks!

If its aluminum, make sure its adonized or clear coated or you'll be polishing it constantly!!! Stainless is much less maintenance prone!

Nigel would you agree with Shanes comment re anodizing?

Yours looks great! Any chance that PG came from Sharp Concepts?

It comes from Sharp Concepts. And they're polished (Flat Polished is their term for it). And yes I agree, insofar when I go on stage I have the metal polished. At home it doesn't really matter.

By the way, I changed the trussrodcover and the knobs compartment thingy on the back as well to polished aluminum. The trussrodcover is engraved with my name.

I didn't buy anodized because I wanted the things to have the metal color, not blue or so. On my Les Paul and Explorer they are polsihed, but something you might like as well is a rusted version as I put on my Strat.

I like a lot. I use the Explorer for slide and ebow work, and the 81X/85X doesn't scream that much in comparison with the other EMGs I have (85/60 on Les Paul, SA-V on Strat, and a 89/SLV/SLV on Strat being built at the moment). Therefore it is perfect for slide stuff in my ears. Though my normal go-to-guitar is the Strat.
