2008 SG Special. Stiff tone & vol pots

I recently bought a faded SG Special. It's a great guitar in almost every respect. One of the nicest playing Gibsons I've had in my 30 years of playing.
One down side is the unfeasably stiff tone & vol pots. From past experience of new Gibsons, I know this is common & that they loosen up with use, but these are barely useable. My SG has the PCB mounted controls anyway, so I might take em out & install a better wiring kit. Anyone else had this problem ?

My '09 SG Standard was the same way. Replaced PCB with an RS Guitarworks kit. Problem solved!

Yeah, those RS kits are very tempting.

I just got an '09 SG Classic, and it has the same issue. Thinking about pulling the PCB and re-wiring.

Re: 2008 SG Special. Stiff tone & vol pots

Alice my 2004 faded SG did not have the PCB, but I just installed new 500K CTS Pots and .01Q's and really like the roll-off and the tone I am getting.

The PCB boards can be modded and people have added connectors onto their pick ups so they plug into the PCB but I like the old school point to point wiring myself.
