I remember when those early 80's RI's came out and I thought that they'd be a passing fad! Boy did I miss the boat.

I could have picked up one of those Modernes about 10 years ago with the case for about $1200. I thought that it was way too much - I passed.

It felt kind of like a V with a strap - only a bit lighter - pretty well balanced. It was far better than a V sitting down, although it did lay kind of low on the leg.

i remember seeing a couple of modernes and gibson "map" guitars hanging in a local dealer in louisville in the early 80's. i would have been about 16-17 at the time and had to wonder wtf gibson was thinking. i have to admit the modernes definitely have something going on now.
