Most wrap arounds on vintage Gibsons in my experience are pretty good and require little if any adjustments. I have a badass tunomatic on my MM that retro fits and doesn't modify the guitar in any way and I have all the adjustment I need. It's a simple inexpensive fix if need be.

Well I've got 3 guys who are very interested in it right now, but they're metalheads and don't have quite the type of guitar I'm interested in. For non metalheads, it wouldn't be that difficult to strip the finish and redo it... there's no binding or anything to deal with!

i'm an avid death metal and grindcore fan. can't say that paint job would ever say metal to me. maybe some sort of nauseating rendition of a zakk wylde guitar perhaps.

what inspired you to paint it like that?

Well you're talking angry satanic metal, I'm talking 80's shred ala Zakk. I took it out for some photos last night... that particular paint doesn't photograph nearly as well as it looks in person. It's actually very metallic and wet looking and changes colors quite drastically. Very dramatic in the light.

Why am I defending it? I've got 5 people interested now.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

After going through some hard times - Like most of us. I recently sold off most of my guitars - I kept my Martin. Scraped a few bucks together recently and purchased a no Nonsense Melody maker reissue. I think I owned about 5 of these. To me the best bang for the buck for a American Guitar still made in America. I just can't say enough about the MM.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

I recently bought a white single pickup melody maker, the neck is really nice, so are the frets. These little girls dont get the apreciation they should, that's for sure. I wouldn't compare it to my other gibbies or higher end fenders, but for the price it's a great guitar and in my opinion it's far better than any MIM, MIK and lower MIA fender (I bought her to have single coil tones with telecaster simplicity in a les paul shape).

Will ad another pickup in a week or too, and a badass bridge, will post before and after pics then.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Got a cheque coming soon and I've got a few guitars in mind. I've already got a Joan jett MM and it is sensational, I can't say enough good things about it - everybody should own one.

Anyway, I'm thinking of a sunburst Les Paul Junior reissue (and maybe an Egnater Rebel 20) but getting another MM - a single cut to mod up sounds cool too.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Yup, got one two days ago. I've owned one of these before, and missed it since the day our ways parted. Flipped my Gibby Studio and bought the "twins" in the picture.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

i bought a melody maker today. vintage sunburst. the guitar came with plastic wrapped around at the back of the neck and body. really hard to clean off the sticky "glue" underneath when i removed the plastic. anybody else have this problem??

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Hey Leif--- Mine came with just plastic on the Pickguard only. Did you buy yours new? Did it come in the Orange Gibson carry Box? I never saw one unpacked with Plastic around the body and neck. If you have a lot of glue residue try a little Naptha or Lighter fluid gently - should do the trick.

Sounds like maybe someone wanted to give it a little extra protection.

That's right, nice guitar out of the box, I'm completely and absolutely surprised by this thing's quality in comparison to its price.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Thanks Captain T!
I have been knocking around adding a Trem to this little guitar - But I find the biggest obstacle is the way the Pickguard wraps around by the Bridge. It makes it very difficult to get a Bigsby or Vibrola right under the bridge. I have seen some with the Bigsby low down on the body - But it just does'nt look right. I am gonna hold off-- in less I can come up with a decent solution.

Been thinking; what are you going to do about the wraparound bridge if you fit on a bigsby? can you change the wraparound to a tune-o-matic?

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Hans-- Actually you can throw a Bad ass or a Wilikinson adjustable where the Wraparound was/ they will act as a Tuneomatic --- and that should work fine - Its been done many times.
