Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

I'm going to see if that one is still at the pawnshop. Didn't see this thread til after I posted about seeing one at the local pawnshop. It's all black (my favorite is the white) with one pup and they want 385 for it. You guys made me want it due to this thread, so it's all your fault that I'm adding another steed to the stable. haha

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Very cool Melody Maker you've got there. One of my first guitars was a double cut with a humbucker. But it's a mod. They were never made with humbuckers.

I haven't opened it up, but the pickup routing on the pickguard seems like it was made that way???

Right, but I was replying to Badacid's pic of his 60's MM. None of the orginals came with a humbucker to my knowledge. It's my understanding that Joan's guitar was a modded 60's MM, so it makes since that the JJ MM would also have a humbucker.

Ron Myers, of Tulsa. I told him to do what he wanted with that color combo, and I think he did himself proud.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

I noticed this on Ebay this AM. $3000 for a '60.

We've been telling guys to buy these, the opportunity to get a deal on them is shrinking fast.

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

I got this off Craig's List for $280. A bit of finish wear, but neck and frets are perfect.

Waiting for a full size Duncan 59 to get here so I can devalue the body by routing it.

I love those 60's melody makers with the SG shape. Is that Maestro original? Its cool idea doubling as a stoptail. The scratchplate is good too, reminds me of a nonreverse firebird for some reason and a switch!, Ha what were they thinking! Great guitar you got there, best so far IMO.
More SG MM's please!

Re: melody makers!! whose got em!

Still hunting for the Melody Maker I should have never sold. Single cut sunburst with a Voodoo P90 put in bridge (guitar had been modded for a P90 long before I got it, I just put in a better one) and the pickguard replaced with one with a similar shap, but picture if the plastic bit by the neck went down with a gentle curve down to the left side of the pickup. Basically a little more Fenderish but very cool. I still scour the forums regularly looking for that guitar. Beautiful fat neck.

Dude, you are better off buying in the US. The prices here are way too high (£ vs US$ that bloody credit crunch thing is not good for gibson prices over here)
