Re: SG's!!!

This 1961 Junior is my second and best SG. I bought it 30 years ago when I was 17 and it really broke the bank. It is a totally great stage guitar, but you have to take real good care because it has the thinnest neck ever. With only a bridge pickup she seems to have more sustain than the old '73 Gibson SG Standard I had before, only my '56 ES is better. The walnut Standard was beautiful but the Junior gives more varied and richer sounds, which I did not expect at all. The Standard had the edge for controlled feedback, the old P90 will wail like in a deranged zombie burning in hell if you let it. Different tools for different jobs...

Very sweet! I have a '61 SG Special that is very similar to this. The sustain is great, and the tone from that P90 just kills me everytime. Yes the neck is fragile but very, very fast... and thin.

I was comparing notes with River who has an Epi LP jr., and I was pleased to see that Epi has kept to the original specs of the 'slim tapered' neck. It was virtually identical to the neck I (and undoubtably yours as well) have.

That one is a real looker, and player. Congrats!

Re: SG's!!!

I think derek trucks main SG looks cool, no pickguard and a tail piece just for the look. I believe its a 2004 reissue of a 61? Something like that.

he does every once in awhile bust out a real vintage SG, which is awesome.
