No love for the ES-335 Larry Carlton?

Just wondering why there seems to be almost no support for this guitar. They are spec'd very nicely (eg., Graphite nut, chrome hardware, Schaller tuners, etc), with typically excellent fitment and finish. They are impossible to find in stock in stores or on eBay. Very few reviews, but of those, it seems to get high ratings.
Can anyone fill me in on why these are hardly owned or mentioned? I have an order in for one, but am questioning my purchase, after such little support for it. Wondering if I should just get the Historic '59 Dot Reissue I was looking at before the Carlton.

Comments?

I could dig it, if it didn't have a graphite nut, chrome hardware, and Schallers.....

And the "sig" price......

Blues Rocker, other than the things you mentioned above, what's different about this guitar vs. a regular 335? If everything else is the same and it's 'just' a Memphis 335, any review for a Memphis 335 will also apply to this guitar.

Re: No love for the ES-335 Larry Carlton?

Slightly narrower nut, lighter burst finish, "better" tuners, "better" bridge and stop tailpiece {corrected by OP} relocated further back than the normal position and the name association, if that is important to someone.

After giving it some hard thought, I cancelled my Larry Carlton order and bought a Custom Shop Dot Fat Neck last night. I couldn't get away from the beautiful look of the vintage sunburst and the traditional dot look.

I don't think the bridge can be "relocated back further than the normal position" and still have it be the same scale with the same location of the fretboard. I'm not sure that actually happened; certainly the Gibson website doesn't mention it. Where are you reading reviews? I think the main thing on the Larry Carlton model is actually the different profile on the neck. Shouldn't matter, since you're buying a guitar based apparently on looks anyway.

Are these things even available yet (the larry Carlton)? Musician's Friend doesn't have them available until the end of this month.

Re: No love for the ES-335 Larry Carlton?

The "stop tailpiece" was moved back behind the pup selector switch...correct
(not the actual bridge, as I incorrectly stated).
Thanks for noting that.

What's the point of that?

You know...I was always a block/trap/SOME inlay kind of guy. I got a 339, plain top and dots and just love it.

Re: No love for the ES-335 Larry Carlton?

Kind of a hijack, but while you mention it, I bought and played an ES-339. Very well built and finished, but that tone was neither here nor there. Not bad, mind you, but just not what I had in my head for either ES-335's or LP's (which I wouldn't expect too much). Very bright, no mojo, for me at least.
