SST Chet Adkins

Was just wondering if anyone here had one and what they thought of it. I bought one but unfortunatly my occupation has me far far away from it at time so I haven't been able to play it.

With all due respect for 'Mr. Guitar', his name is spelled ATKINS!

You are of course correct it is spelled Atkins....I will ask your forgiveness in that it's been a very long time since I've had much of anything resembling sleep. lol

I had one of the earlier ones. A '90 model. The hdstk had the old style (classical) shape as was the Gibson logo. I liked it for some time, but eventually tired of it's one-dimensional sound...esp the Piezo pickup type of sound. It had too much 'quack' for me, which was not like a true acoustic guitar's tone. I had it set-up w/ Elixirs & it played like a dream. It sounded great when I overdrove it though, esp w/ the active circuitry ...lol!

I consigned it to Elderly & it sold w/in a few weeks...They weren't even familiar w/ this particular edition of the SST model.

This was their description:

GIBSON CHET ATKINS SST (1990)
EC, acoustic-electric, rounded cutaway, gloss black finish, solid spruc top on chambered mahogany body, 14-fret mahogany neck, 21-fret ebony fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, 1-11/16" nut width, 25-1/2" scale, ebony bridge, black pickguard, factory pickup / preamp system with top-mounted volume and tone controls, rosewood headstock overlay with script "GIbson" logo, gold tuners, on consignment, with OHSC (SN:91530367)
20U-10066 - No longer available - $1,100.00
