I gotta be honest about this, though, Sin. I think the worm really turned when Jonesy went over to the Dark Side....

It was a tragic fall...to see a good Les Paul wieldin' tone jedi knight go to an SG, marking him as a tonal Sith Lord!!!

I dunno...I think between today's economic climate and the outright tone in conjunction with the price, it's tough to beat an SG...especially for Gibson junkies.

I dunno, I just don't see a point to buying a Les Paul considering how much more they cost, and they are limited, by both weight and accessibility. Don't make me post the "Are you crazy" thread.

I voted for the Explorer 'cause i've always wanted one (actually I want a USA Hamer Standard Custom in 59 Burst, but this IS a Gibson forum), but SG's have been calling my name recently too........
How about a Special or Junior? A P90 equipped Gibson is also on my list.

I think I'd have to go with the SG Std. Unless you can find the '61 reissue for under $1500.00.

I think the best bargain on a Gibson though is that LP Studio 'blackout' that Gtr. Ctr has now for $799.00. Maple cap, satin finish, 490R/498T open-coils. No binding, regular trapazoid inlays. If I was on a budget and was going to but my first Gibson(or any electric) this would be the one.

I say get an SG. I just ordered my new Lefty SG Standard yesterday from Guitar Center. They had a deal where you can trade in gear and then get 15% off so I traded in a crappy pedal for $15 and saved $200 on the SG. The price after the discount was $1125 and after tax is was just under $1200. Of cours they didn't have one in the store but it will be at my house Thursday.
