Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

I do love this guitar, but sadly I think I'm going to have to let it go. We'll see.

And my Sonex, which was my very first guitar and still a stellar player. Never letting this one go!

Why are you selling the SG?

Re: Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

Well, I've used and abused it enough... and I'm hard up right about now, and I mostly play my Les Paul anyway.

Its a killer sounding SG, I use it on all of my recordings. I put a SH-5 in the bridge and a 59 in the neck, replaced the nut with brass, and its got a super nice feel. Its definitely been played, and played hard.

Buckle rash on the back *its only a single coat of paint, so it wore quickly*, and marks and dings all over. Definitely a players guitar. I dunno. I'm putting it up for sale in the local craigslist this week, but I'm going to try to hang on a little longer... eat peanut butter and drink tap water for another week or 2.

Re: Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm going to try to keep it. Just fallen on rough times lately... I went over budget on my latest demo and am starving as a result!

I have rough mixes up on www.myspace.com/6922 and have 2 songs going through mastering now, and as soon as I can afford to finish the rest I'll have a decent acoustic demo I hope!

If you have a chance, give a listen, I'd love to hear some unbiased opinions! I'm happy with the results so far, and its worth the starvation... haha

Re: Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

Thanks! I'm doing a video next month for the song 'Jerk'... hopefully all goes well! Its not my thing really, but everybody keeps telling me to give up on the rock bands and go acoustic... so here's my one shot!

Re: Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

I use to have a Sonex Deluxe 180 exactly like yours and I sold it
What do you think they go for these days, I sold mine for $350 about 8 yrs ago. The guys drove 400 miles to pick it up, they called in the morning and by afternoon they were already here, loved it at first sight and bought it instantly. I love the sustain on that guitar but it wouldn't stay in tune as well as my Fender Strat so I sold it....sometimes I regret it, I should have hung onto it but it's not really a collector guitar and not worth that much on the open market. The only really out standing thing about that particular model is that it is made out of resin wood and really heavy as a result. I like the humbuckers though, they really crank out some wild tone and sustain when overdriven.

Cool Re: Gothic SG and Sonex 180 Deluxe

A Sonex 180 is a cool little guitar! I've run across a few guys who played 'em, but they wouldn't sell 'em! I've always wanted one. Hang on to yours! It would be a heartbreaker if ya had to sell it.......
