1951 L-50 walked in today.....

The original owner got it from his Mom brand new in 1951 when he was in high school. It went around the world with him in the merchant marine, and he hasn't played it in 40 years. It was NASTY, but 4 and a half hours of voodoo witchcraft later, it rocks.

More pics tomorrow when the sun comes up.

Yeah, I love the sound of dry wood. Does it ring or go thud? I figure the former
Hey, any before pics?

That is beautiful. It belongs in a museum, or my house.

Greg...just out of curiosity, how do you come up with this number?
Is it based on a pricing guide, eBay, the seller's asking price?
I look at those pictures and think wow! That guitar look like it came out of the factory 5 years ago.
Just gorgeous!!

Re: 1951 L-50 walked in today.....

Very nice Uncle Greg! Reminds me of my wife's Grandmother's 58 L-48. I cleaned it up and restrung it for her not long ago. Her face lit up when I played it for her, she had never learned, so hearing her own guitar being played for the first time (even though it was me) made her day. It is now back under her bed and maybe I'll get it some day, I just hope it's not any time soon.
That seems like a really good price you have on that one, someone on here should grab that up, it's only going to go up in value. Here's the 58.

Re: 1951 L-50 walked in today.....

It was about the "real, or Memorex" post. That comes from a tv commercial from the '70's. I don't even remember why I said it, I'll haveta go back and look at those posts, but it was definitely facetious. Actually, the phrase is "is it live or Memorex?"...it has to do with the quality of cassette tape as opposed to live performance. Thanks for the L50 post...m

Thanks.
