Gibson Guitar of the week #43 Trans Amber Explorer w/ Short Vibrola
I want to know how much is this guitar going for in the market. Anybody knows someone in the forums who are selling this guitar. I'm helping a friend find one but it's getting difficult finding one in Ebay or craigslist.

AFAIR i saw one on ebay some weeks ago and it was priced slightly above one grand. I was surprised about the quite low price though. It's a hell of a guitar

everything in trans amber can easily be sold to me, i just love it, I have something cooking in the background which would match my taste on this and couldn't get any better. I would open up a NGD thread if i succeed which is absolutely not sure at this moment but i am hoping it will be

I'm not sure about the exact price but I have a GOTW #13 Explorer Pro in Heritage Cherry:
![]() The list on this was $1799 in 2007 when it came out. I'm not sure how much the new ones were discounted since there were only 400 of each made and the big chains were not involved in selling them. |

I see that trans-am with the vibrola and i think Allen Collins and Ricky Medlocke.
So, basically, I need one. Im not big on anything but single cuts, or joan jett style double cuts, but i am a huge fan of SKYNYRD! Thats one HELLUVA GUITAR!

guys I'd like to get your opinions about this guitar. I'd like to know a fair price for this kind of guitar if i buy it, new unused. A friend knows someone that has it, never been used, unplayed condition since it came out of the factory of 2008. According to Gibson, this guitar came out only for sale on 2008 but was made 2007.

Re: Gibson Guitar of the week #43 Trans Amber Explorer w/ Short Vibrola
i really don't know how a fair price should look like. I still think it's a hell of a guitar, beautiful and with a valuable appearence. Nothing looks cheap on it. Do you know how the MRSP was back in 2008?

Re: Gibson Guitar of the week #43 Trans Amber Explorer w/ Short Vibrola
Thanks Sharky. The guitar for sale is similar, with some minor differences like the pickups (57, 57+) and short vibrolance. For 1K, it is a good buy. The guy who was selling the GOTW #43 is asking for $1800, unused, unplayed, case queen since 2007. What do you think? Is it a fair price? Wonder if that was how much he got it for or is he just considering that the guitar appreciated in value because of its rarity.

Looks like a plain old '76 RI with a Vibrola attached. Just buy a natural finish '76 and put your own on and be done with it

Re: Gibson Guitar of the week #43 Trans Amber Explorer w/ Short Vibrola
Early this year I saw one sell for 1200 and the guy had listed it over and over from 1700 on down, it finally sold. He paid 2200 new for it and was pretty unhappy about the final sale price. It was in perfect condition, with original case.

To me 1.8 k looks absolutely reasonable compared to the price when it was new plus they are not seen for sale quite often. On the other hand this guy had problems selling it over 1.2 k. I think whatever you pay up to 1.8 k is what the guitar is worth. To you anyways. I'd grab her, she's a beauty. And do not forget to post a NGD with an awful lot of pictures. Should look awesome outside during sunset |

Yeah, it was for sale as a used guitar. The condition seemed to be pretty good but I haven't seen it with my own eyes....

Re: Gibson Guitar of the week #43 Trans Amber Explorer w/ Short Vibrola
I bought one new at the end of 2007. I paid $1149 canadian (about $1300 tax in). Sold it a couple years ago for around $1600.
