Re: Favorite Gibson NON-Les Paul

Wow so far a perfect three way split at 33.33% How trippy is that ?
Give me that ES Religion, IT was a tough choice though, Love Birds and Explorers too, but weighing in against a 345 , or a Lucille 355, I can cop a Firebird's tone with either with just a tad of tweaking

Re: Favorite Gibson NON-Les Paul

I got a boat load of SG's and one ES-335, and the 335 will get my vote hands down.
How do I vote again?

Re: Favorite Gibson NON-Les Paul

The 335 is great, but guys , really gotta try that veritone switch, either mono or stereo wired positions 4-6 are, or truly sound like single coil Fenders, without the added hum
Hmmm The ES pulls ahead Ah Cant vote twice , LOL this aint CA, NY or Taxachuettes votin,

Re: Favorite Gibson NON-Les Paul

I've owned and played every choice on the ballot, all are cool in their own way.
A 335 is way more than any of the others.

Take a solid body and cut it this way.... ....or you can cut it that way.....
Doesn't change much.

A 335 is more than just a shape, its very construction is a world away from the others.

If the 335 doesn't run away with first place, I'll KNOW the vote was rigged!!!

Re: Favorite Gibson NON-Les Paul

I used to have a 1986 ES335 Dot. It had a natural finish. The front and back were one piece maple ply straight across. On the sticker inside, it read ES335-425 Dot. I was wondering what the "425" designation was for, so I called George Gruhn, he couldn't tell me, then I tried Gibson, and they put Walter Carter on the line, he didn't know either. I'm very interested in what that designation meant. If THEY couldn't answer me, I really don't know who can...m

For me, a 335 first, then a 175.

An Explorer would be nice too!

The 335 may just be the worlds perfect guitar. The "Right" 335 could make the rest of my guitars obsolete.
