Re: If the Les Paul Didn't Exist, Which Gibson Would You Play?
It felt uncomfortable at first, being so small, but it brings the bite and snarl when played dirty, and can cover a lot of non-rock stuff too. Couple that with unhindered access to the upper frets, and I'm in love.
I'll probably buy another 'Paul here one day, but I don't think I'll have one as my number 1 ever again. |

I think they should put back access plates in all the non-Historic semi-hollowbodies. Or at least route the center channel like they used to do to make room for the varitone.

Played a 60's tribute SG today at Guitar Denter. Great guitar. I realized a few weeks ago how many solid body Gibson guitars are just mahogany. SG, Explorer, Flying V, Les Paul Junior, certain other Les Pauls... Not sure why but it blew my mind

Re: If the Les Paul Didn't Exist, Which Gibson Would You Play?
I would really love to have an ES-335, but I had to go the SG route. I really wish I could afford a '61 RI, because I've been gassing for one for a couple of years now.
Sucks being poor!

I have a Joan Jett Melody Maker that plays and sounds freakin awesome. That's what I'd play all the time I guess. Let the laughing begin.

Re: If the Les Paul Didn't Exist, Which Gibson Would You Play?
If the Les Paul did not exist I seriously doubt that Gibson would still be making guitars today. I would not be playing a Gibson. Paul Reed Smiths would be out too as the template for his designs not exist so would probably be playing a Fender.
I would not be on MLP either come to that as it would not exist either : )

Re: If the Les Paul Didn't Exist, Which Gibson Would You Play?
I love my 1962 SG Std. She is old wood and has the patented PAF pickups. Looks, plays and sounds awesome.
But, a second alternative would be an ES for sure |

I went for the es-175.
Personally it's the best guitar Gibson ever made. Just wish they were still $175. |

Re: If the Les Paul Didn't Exist, Which Gibson Would You Play?
I would really WANT to play the ES series.....but just too big for me. So I voted on the SG.
That being said, if the LP didn't exist, but the ES-339 did......then naturally, I'd be 339 all the way. |
