59 Melody Maker back from the dead
With the talents of Rockman1266 my 59 is back from a sad sad condition.
It had no breaks and still had the original frets and nut.It was rough to say the least but he brought it back to life. I had a set of Duncan alnico pro II's, the tone pros bridge and the tuners so thats whats in there.Has a Martin Six String pot kit and sounds pretty damn incredible now. I'll let the pics do the talking ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: 59 Melody Maker back from the dead
It looked really really dead.
Dead and mutilated :-P But now it looks great, tho I would have NEVER carved into the body and stripped the finish of an original 1959 melody maker... So after I had that mild heart-attack, I came around and saw the finish checking and completed product. I have to say that from what it was, you basically turned a turd into a diamond. WOW. sound clips? Im curious how alnico II's would sound on such a thin body! Great job.

Re: 59 Melody Maker back from the dead
It has some grit and growl with the neck pick up and bridge together and lots of bite with the bridge only Not shrill or tinny at all. That surprised me in a good way.
Very Pat Travers sounding is the best description. |

Great work. That guitar looks like a lot of fun!

Glad you dig it, Richard!
Bob Davenport (Rockman1266) did his usual amazing work! And of course, we are very pleased you like the wiring harness ![]() Play it in good health!

Re: 59 Melody Maker back from the dead
You brought it back - with a vengeance. What a great transformation, I bet it sounds killer.

Re: 59 Melody Maker back from the dead
did you enlarge the route to fit in the pots and bigger pickguard?
if so, was it an awful lot of routing?
