oh good, another new model based on an old model that i wont be buying!

probably a great guitar to play but something about firebirds/explorers/v's/modernes just tickles my 'no' spot.

I walked in here happy, thinking it was going to be like Dave Grohls.

It's okay. Make it Reverse and only 2 P90s and I'll be happier.

I just can't like the NR 'Birds. I like the reverses, though, especially with one or two minihums.

Toss a Strat neck and mid p/u in it, route it out for a recessed Floyd and you might have something!

I love it. It looks like the guitar Andy from Oasis used. If it had binding on the neck (non studio?) I would start saving up now.

I love it, and enough people don't like them, so they'll be cheap used. just like the custom shop forward Firebirds

Gem you mean. Andy bell was the bassist. But gem is one of the main reasons I want a reverse firebird.

yeah, i got the email about this last night, and was interested. until i saw the price, of course.

the switching options sound fun though. if it came in custom colours it would be cooler as well

That is the Gibson website LIST price - they will never sell for that. For example, the Joe Bonamassa LP Studio Goldtop also lists for $2199, but sells (everywhere) for about $1400.

Someone on Craigslist around me had a firebird studio a while back, it was a few years older and was red, don't know if it was reversed or not. I like the reversed better, more comfortable to sit down and play (IMO).

Yeah, MSRP is not a reflection of the street price. It should be in line with regular Studio pricing when it hits stores.

I could have been A LOT worse. I'd prefer 2 pickups, but I'm not going to gripe about getting 3 P90's. If they're going for 1,400 street price, the price is right. I'd have one in a heartbeat.
