Re: where can I find Firebird Diagram????
Let me chime in, as I have a 1990 Gibson Firebird on which I have changed the pickups and the wiring harness ...
(1) on the wiring harness, I commissioned Dr Vintage to build me a ready-to-drop-in wiring harness. I didn't do the work myself, but had a friend drop in the harness. I totally love his work (both the friend and Dr Vintage). If you let me know, I can get you a link or email. (2) on modern Firebirds, the orientation of the volume and tone pots is the same as say a Gibson Les Paul. On the original vintage Firebirds, the orientation was with both volume pots "on top". So, that's what Dr Vintage built for me. (3) I replaced the pickups with original, vintage 1964 Firebird pickups. Needless to say, I spent an arm and a leg on them. They're very, very hard to find, I waited a long time to get two and I got lucky. Both David Plummer (aka Zhangliqun of Zhangbucker hand wound pickups) and Jason Lollar make replacement Firebird pickups that are built with the original vintage 1964 pickups in mind. These are AlNiCo pickups (not Ceramic) and their architecture is very different from the modern, Gibson Firebird pickups (which suck). While at it, I replaced the 4 vol+tone knobs with a vintage gold set. This makes a big cosmetic difference (to me). Let me know if I can help in any way.
