SG 50th Anniversary - Ordered!

So I ordered a "scratch and dent" SG 50th Anniversary for $300 less than retail from AMS .But now I have to part with my 2003 special faded model

Will update with pics when I get it

im dying for BOTH the 24 fret and 12 string. IMO gibson hit a homer with those.

Hopefully this scratch and/or dent isn't that bad or noticeable. But these style buys don't bother me since its going to get scratched and dented from rom normal use. I purchased my LTD as a scratch and dent but didn't find any flaws so hopefully the same will hold true for this one

very cool, be sure to post some pics when you get it. I was a bit disappointed that the 24 fretters had the chunkier neck, if they had a 60s style neck, I'm sure I wouldve ordered one by now too

I agree...one of its only defects.. personally im thinking about buying the 12 string myself

I would have really liked a slimmer neck but just couldn't pass up this deal. The main reason I went with this one is because of the '57 classic pickups and the extra 2 frets. And it was still cheaper than the standard.
And I really like the 60s style pick guard.

Gonna be in my hands on Monday!

They definitely do look great, if I didnt already have an SG that I loved, I would still be strongly considering one

Only 3 SGs? I just bought #7 today.

Or 8, if you count the Epi G-400 Vintage. 13 if you count the Epi and the Guild S-100s. 14 if you add on the DeArmond S-73. Methinks I may have a thing for the SG shape...or a serious GAS problem.

I think the 50th anniversary SGs are just an excuse to do some limited run models.
But this thing is awesome. It sounds great with the classic 57 pups! Sounds, feels and look better than my faded I have

OK, I'm no guitar/neck expert, but here are my thoughts on the neck:
I have a Les Paul Trad Pro with a "Rounded '50s" neck and it is quite a chunk. I don't mind it at all though. The "SG Rounded" neck on my 50th Anniversary is noticeably thinner but by no means "clumsy".

The 50th anniversary models aren't reissues, they're limited runs commemorating the anniversary.

The only thing I noticed is that the back finish looks a little hazy in a couple spots. It just looks like it was missed by the buffer. You really need to look at it in certain light to see it too. There's also a couple very small spots on the edge of the body where the finish looks a little thin. Other than that the thing is in perfect shape. Defiantly worth saving $300!
