Esteban will sue, his standards are too high to be seen with the giz-mo-tar.

Re: New Gibson Firebird! What's your opinion?
Megalomania
A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence. An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions. The word megalomania is derived from the Greek words "μεγαλο": megalo-, meaning large, and "μανία": mania, meaning madness, frenzy. The first attested use of the word "megalomania" is in 1890 as a translation of the French word "mégalomanie". Megalomania is not a symptom or a diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)[2] or the ICD. However, grandiosity and delusions of grandeur have similar meanings to megalomania and are used in the DSM and ICD as possible symptoms of several mental conditions.

ohh cool, i didnt know they had been doing this.(i also found out they werent the first to do self tuning guitars) id actually dig some effects, but yea i think they took it a little too far, not to mention i dont love the guitar or the price. i dont think so much electronic stuff should be added to a guitar, but to make the wiring compartment a little bigger and adding some effects would be cool. i can imagine a buckethead style les paul, with different color arcade style buttons that give maybe phaser, db boost, wah.![]() now that would be cool

Re: New Gibson Firebird! What's your opinion?
![]() Dude is trying way too hard. The denim jacket, the smashing of the 'old' technology, etc. And I note that the guitar he's smashing has a bolt-on neck, probably because smashing a real SG would have hurt his bottom line. - D

Re: New Gibson Firebird! What's your opinion?
Called it and am not impressed.
Whoever posted the old sears catalog with built in effect guitar was right on. I was hoping for something better. This is quite a letdown when words like "revolutionary" are bandied about. sorry!

Re: New Gibson Firebird! What's your opinion?
Gibson Announces the Revolutionary Firebird X
This morning in New York City, Gibson Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz made an announcement that staggered the music world. Juszkiewicz unveiled Gibson’s latest guitar, Firebird X. But press, fans and celebrities in attendance quickly learned that Firebird X was much, much more than any guitar ever conceived. Speaking to an audience that included such guitar luminaries as Ace Frehley, The Roots’ Kirk Douglas, Eddie Ojeda and Jay Jay French from Twisted Sister, Lou Pallo, Russ Paul and others, Juszkiewicz described an instrument light years ahead of anything ever built. “This is new. This is different. This is revolution,” he declared before unveiling the axe. “Nobody looks and spends the time to reinvent the guitar. This is a new guitar.” The Firebird X guitar takes the guitar instrument to new heights of functionality and usability for the professional player and the aspiring enthusiast. Using technologies that did not exist even a few years ago, Gibson has enhanced an already outstanding instrument to unbelievable performance and creative heights. The enhancements touch every aspect of the instrument from improved manufacturing technologies to the latest electronics. To drive this point home, Juszkiewicz grabbed a traditional guitar and smashed it to pieces. Afterward, the crowd buzzed over the announcement. And already, video of the occasion has leaked onto the Internet. Enjoy… |
