Pearly Gates signed & played; ebay first one on ebay?

Here you go; sorry if this was already posted...been wondering when one would show up. Well here it is....if you have $25K to spend on it, I will sell you a much better 1968 Les Paul:

Gibson Custom Shop NEW 59 Les Paul Billy Gibbons ZZ Top - eBay (item 320392615090 end time Jul-31-09 23:17:19 PDT)

Sorry to throw water on it, but they say they captured the special tone that Gibbons gets by putting BB1 & BB2 in it? Come on. And it has the same regular fat neck as any other R9 that you can easily find on ebay for $3-4K? And at GC for $4-5K? Well, maybe the Murphy aged ones cost around $6-7K. So Gibbons signs it and maybe strums an E chord (so they can say he actually played it), let Tom Murphy age it, and jack the price up to $25K? Come on.

My documentation says the same thing; but the auction says BB1 & BB2.....must be a mistake in the auction.

Another question is:
Is he guitar REALLY there, it's not said or documented that a signed and playd by Rev. Billy F Gibbons has been delivered so far?
Anybody has some information???
I've heards just the VOS and the aged version has been delivered, or does it mean that this dealer want 25K or the aged one???

Re: Pearly Gates signed & played; ebay first one on ebay?

Be wary of this auction.

The photo is from Gibson's blog announcement, posted weeks ago. It shows a color sample body on the left and the real Pearly on the right. Color sample bodies do not go into production. Who in their fricking right mind would route humbucker holes and other hardware holes AFTER a finish has been sprayed?

If he can't produce pics of the guitar he's selling, then you'd better be damn careful if you're looking to buy from this guy. There's other more reputable dealers out there.

I believe the sellers are reputable. (webuyguitars) They also have a couple of expensive bloomfields, 50th anniv, etc. for sale along with a bunch of other stuff. But they told me they just copied the text from another LP ad & needed to fix it for PG. Look for them to relist.

Re: Pearly Gates signed & played; ebay first one on ebay?

I don't know I saw one in my local GC this past Thursday July 2nd.

Now it was the VOS model non-signed and was 7880.00 but it was awesome looking!

They do look nice. But so does a $4,000 VOS R9 which is pretty much the same guitar; pups might be different......since they are not real PAFs, I do not see the justification in price difference and Billy's name ain't worth that much to me!
