Hello Everyone!

I am new to the forums and have some interested in the following ebay listing: 1990 Gibson Les Paul Classic! RARE All Gold Goldtop! - eBay (item 270268271928 end time Aug-29-08 16:27:34 PDT)

What do you guy think about the LP? Worth the money?

Re: Goldtop Classic

Sweet axe.
I am really thingking about a Goldtop Classic myself.

I don't know that I would pay this much for one, but there may be something to be said for the fact that it is one of the early ones (they do seem to be regarded as 'better' than more current ones) and it is a limited edition in all Gold. I actually prefer to see the Mahogany on the back and neck.

Re: Goldtop Classic

I played a Goldtop Classic at GC the other day, and now I'm obsessed!
Definitely worth the money IMO, Les Pauls were better made back in the 90's than today, and the price is great.

I loved those early 90s Classics.

I've had 2. (both all gold) A 90 and a 91.

These have slimmer necks than the modern classic. It's a very nice neck if you like 'em slim.

Solid as a rock to. I had ZERO flex issues with either of mine. Solid as a rock.

I wouldn't mind having another someday. If I had the bread I'd probably be interested in that one.

Is that a real pic of Ace, or is it a look alike? Never seen him pictured with a LP Deluxe without the DiMarzios.

Re: Goldtop Classic

Yeah, I have been going back and forth on whether I want the all gold or seeing the mahogany on the back. Tough decision.

Thats really him. It's a pretty early pic. Probably 73 or 74. Might've been right before the DiMarzios.

Here's another:

Thin binding in the cutaway and abr bridge.. except for the non long tenon it's almost a historic

Re: Goldtop Classic

Well. I held off on buying this one, and took the plunge. I just sprung for a brand new Darkburst G0 1960 VOS. Got a great deal!

Where did you find the G0? I haven't seen them around lately.

Re: Goldtop Classic

Guitar Center. The guy from there called and said they had one, and would give me a great deal if I purchased this weekend. I should have it by Friday. I just noticed the LP I purchased looks alot like the one in the Ace Frehley pic in this thread. hehe
