I looked at it for a bit , It seems to have all the correct details ! Heck if it had no neck replacement and no refin your looking at $250 to $300k .. I'm no expert by any means ! Just an avid enthusiast but the plastic looks right but it could be aged DMC ? The neck cavity looks right but it could be a masterfully redone conversion ? The seller seems to deal mainly in Guitars and may be a music store .. Is there something that you see in particualr that makes you think it isn't what the seller claims ?? I would also think if it was a factory reneck and refinish that Gibson has a record of it ! More closeup pics would help !

hmm.. i ain't no expert either.. and i wouldn't really know .. but there's just something about the way it was presented on the sight.. .. something worth a price that high should at least have more pictures at higher resolution.. just a thought

WOW only 100K, wish my CD was mature, I'd buy a 339, people are out of their minds to buy at those prices, wish I had more money then brains, but then again it depends on who you talk to about the latter!!!!!!!!

Re: REAL 59 BURST ON EBAY !! only $100k !!

I think the days of REALLY GOOD $100,000 59 Les Paul's are FAST approaching.

This market overheated exactly the same way real estate did. I went to the Boston Guitar show last weekend, overheard a couple of the big boys talking.
The market is dead according to them. I had a very well know dealer offer to take $15,000 of the price of a 57 standard he's had for at least a year before I even talked price with him. And this was on a guitar that he has listed on his site for $60K because it had issues. (neck repair, different fret board) A year and a half ago he wanted $65K for this thing. Now I bet the tought of getting $40K out of it would be a dream come true for him.

The bottom line is this, (IMHO) guitars are sold subject to the same market forces that classic cars, stocks, real estate and everything else out there is.
The guy's who thought that they would be insulated from these market moves because they paid $400,000 for a old guitar are going to realize very soon that they made the same bet the guy's on Wall St. did when they thought housing was a can't miss deal.

Sit back and watch. The economy is going into recession. The price of these guitars is coming down and I think by a LOT!! I do believe though that this price drop will create buying opportunities. The one thing I've learned in the 20+ years I've bought and sold real estate is.............People have EXTREMELY short memories. The stuff they dump today, they'll pay twice for 8 years from now. We'll see.

From your mouth to God's ears !! I wouldn't mind conversions getting more reasonable in price either so i could afford one
