Year of Randy Rhoads' Les Paul - The saga continues
To most, the year Randy's LP was produced doesn't really matter. To the die hard Rhoads fans like myself (as well as LP players) it is a question we would love to have the correct answer to.
For many years Randy thought it was a 64 model but then it was publicized that it was indeed a 1974 model. Then comes along Peter Margolis who is doing the RR Documentary and after personally inspecting the guitar (assuming he knew what he was looking for) he declares that the guitar is a 1975 model. If you ever read the Premier Guitar article, it says it the guitar was a 1972. Isn't this fun!?! The Guitars of Randy Rhoads - Premier Guitar I hope that there is some significant time devoted to Randy's gear when then RR Documentary finally comes out. Countless devoted fans have shelled out their life savings for the a white LPC the same year as Randy's. Sadly, no one is for sure if they got the right one! Does it matter in the big scheme of things, no. Some day we will know.

Re: Year of Randy Rhoads' Les Paul - The saga continues
I'm a RR fan, but I've never held a big interest in what year his actual guitar was. For some reason I was more focused in how his Les Paul went very well with his image, and who he was as a guitar player. Which made me want one when I saw him play at Gazzari's when I was 14 (1979).
IMO, his white Les Paul was the perfect match for him. |

I hope Margolis was able to check the important specs (important to some of us anyway), what neck was it, what tenon did it have, stickered or stamped TTops, etc. and hopefully documented it with lots of pics.

Re: Year of Randy Rhoads' Les Paul - The saga continues
When I was a teenager ,my grandma bought me a subscription to Circus,1980 or so. The used to have a stars gear section in the back . I recall the issue with Rhoads ,they listed his LP as being a 1964. I figured they must have typo-ed 1974 as there were no Les Pauls made in 1964
