Re: show your sexy deluxe`s

I bought this as is back in 93. I believe it started out as a Deluxe but it's been converted to a Standard. It has also been refinished, no idea on what the original finish was. I think its a 70 or 71. Neck pickup is a stickered T top. I'm not sure about the bridge.

pics of the pots, top left, code 137695* as far as I can make out;

Don't know about that Cookie - I think I'd eat off Vasco's Deluxe before I'd eat off the cat's arse!

BTW Nice guitar. Looks like it's been well loved over the years.

During the early 70s (71-72?) Gibson switched from using p90s in the SG Special to Mini's, they also put a tune-o-matic set up on there. You can find them around from time to time, they're cool lil' guitars.

Re: show your sexy deluxe`s

This is my 1st Gib USA non custom shop Les Paul.I don't know how they vary through the post Norlin years,but me personally, I like my Norlin Les Pauls much better. The Gibson USA stuff seems a little robotic cookie cutter to me. Need to play the sheen off of it I suppose

Thanks moff. Yes, they are mini-hums in there. The SG is as I bought it, way back in 82. To the best of my knowledge SG Specials came out in this spec from 72 through to about 78. Mini-hums with black platic covers, ABR1 bridge, small block inlays from the first fret, unbound fretboard, unadorned headstock with just the Gibson logo, volute and 3 piece mahogany neck. I don't know if SG's went down the maple neck route that Les Pauls did around 75. The neck volume knob and pickup switch have been swapped around on mine though. And yes, it rips along quite nicely... My only guitar during my band days in the 80's (strictly garage & parties nothing professional), but it was more than adequate covering what we did.

Re: show your sexy deluxe`s

I have never weighed my Norlin. We don't have scale in the house (Grandma, you know!) and it never crosses my mind to weigh it when one is available.
I do have solid brass control and pup switch control covers.
I would imagine that adds close to 1 lb to the total weight.
