Kluson Waffles to Grovers... Whos done it?

I love Grovers but i dont want to mess with the integrity of my 71.

It LOOKS like i should be goledn to drop em in.. Maybe a slight ream. I just need to know i can go back to waffles with no issues.

I'd stick to the originals if that '71 was mine, for sure. I prefer Grovers too, but not on yours.

I figure with the neck refin on it cant bash the value too much. I rock guitars to play their best. I just dont wanna do something too harsh.

My 73 had Deluxes on it when I bought it and I replaced them with the new repro Wafflebacks and they're fantastic. Smooth, smooth, smooth, and they hold tune as well as anything out there. Why Grovers? Wafflebacks are lighter and correct...

I just fell in love with em on my 68ri. The look and the smooth touch sensitivity. They were perfect

I prefer Grovers Rotomatics and have had many LP with them, but will have to advise against drilling yours to install the Grovers on it, as you will lower resale value if you do so. If you are going to keep it for ever and resale value is not an issue then go ahead and install them.

My cousin Albertus will have words with you if you mess with that '71. You don't wanna be havin' words with Albertus. Especially not when his beer goes between his legs and he sends an SMS to the emergency services before he starts speaking those words.

Re: Kluson Waffles to Grovers... Whos done it?

Won't hurt resale. Most consider it an upgrade. Especially if you have the waffles to show.

Too easy to put in Grovers. 4-5 times around with a reamer and you're golden.

This thread has become hilarious. So theres no grovers out there at all that are made to fit a kluson sized hole? I dont want to ream...the guitar at least

Re: Kluson Waffles to Grovers... Whos done it?

Well it looks like if anyones gettin their ass kicked for reamin it gonna probably be the original owner. Yanked the tuners on a hunch (ive suspected it was reamed for a week now)
This bad boy was reamed out long before the neck refin. Grovers drop right in...

Im gonna guess this was done probably 30+ years ago. Id like to thank whoever took the weight off my chest.

Ps the waffles ain for sale

Score one more the the 70's dudes. They weren't concerned with vintage-correct, or future-value. They were after taking a workhorse, and making it a "better" guitar.

Now, you can join them in hot-rodding your guitar, to meet your needs!

GUILT FREE HOTRODDING!

Im a happy camper. Perfect fit. Used the screws from the waffles because the grover screws are too small... It worked well. They all dropped in with zero issues. Who ever reamed em before did a good job.
Waffles are tucked away safe n sound

The previous owner (or possibly one of the previous owners) did that change--waffles to Grovers--you can see the marks left from the waffles.

I changed them to Schallers.
