Wow! Love love love it! Very nice.
Great family shot. Could you walk us through what you have there in guitars and amps?

A 1994 SG Special is missing, was a special order from the german distributor at this time. Came with a ebony fretboard and a real fat neck. Then my Gibson Thunderbird Bass is missing, i just bought this because i´m a big fan of Wishbone Ash´s Martin Turner. On the left side there is a 1967 SG Standard bought 4 years ago from Gregor Hilden Then a 1968 SG Special, totally rocked piece of wood. A 1955 TV Model, i hate this guitar, too powerful and i do not like the neck. (just me all my friends love it) A case with with one of my mij guitars. My old conersion Jimmy Bowskill - Conversion in the case a SG Diablo then the 72 Deluxe a 1971 Gibson SG Standard and a Collector´s Choice Nr. 1 Melvin Franks/Peter Green Amps: a Marshall Mosfet, my first amp, bloody horrible, but i keep it sentimental wise a 1976 Marshall JMP 50W two JCM900 2100 , very different sound, i kept the one which has a cool AC/DC tone !!! and sold the other one (very brutal amp) a JCM800 Mod. 2205 a vintage modern 2466 the red one is a old Stramp Halfstack (Leslie West used them and Rory Gallagher´s Band) |

Re: 1972 Deluxe with Humbucker
*haha*
I wrote once in an article for german Guitar&Bass magazine, that i do not like Les Pauls. It changed completely during the last years and right now i do have 5 Gibson, 2 Tokai, 3 Greco, 3 Aria Pro II, 1 Orville by Gibson and one Epiphone Les Pauls. ..and sadly i had to sell some already because my business is running very bad now. )very sad because some them were really cool, Burny, Navigator, Edwards, Greco and many more) Anyhow my collection says 100% rock´n´roll, loud & nasty :-) |

Re: 1972 Deluxe with Humbucker
:-))
Once my wife came along and said very serious "ok, now you stop buying guitars, this is crazy what you are doing and i do not support you with my money" I said "Ok darling, so when it is forbidden to buy guitars, then i´m gonna buy amps" ...and i did, not many, but nice. Laney Supergroup 1969/1970 Laney AOR 50 Vampower MK 1b 1971 Stramp 2100 1971 Selmer Bassmaster 1962 2 Selmer Treble & Bass 1965 Orange GRO 100 1971 Orange Matamp 1969 5 Marshalls VOX ADTV120 Bird Golden Eagle 4/25 + 10 4x12 Cabs :-)) So after 13 years of marriage i think i broke my wife !!! |

Pot dates are not an accurate guide to the dating of a guitar... Allow me to explain further: my '76 Deluxe has pots in it dating to 1974. All the number on the pots tell you is the manufacturer, the week, and the year of the manufacture of the POT, not the guitar.

The serial number 1381xx says 1970 to 1975. The Deluxe have been made with full size Humbucker 72/73/74. (76 with maple neck) So it is one of those years, but as i think the volute is smaller than i think they were usual and the pots dating 72, i think it came in 1972. So it can be, but of course it is not sure......and as i do not like the years 1973 and 1974 let me believe it is 72 ;-) |

Re: 1972 Deluxe with Humbucker
That's a beautiful Deluxe and you feel free to call it any year you want. Pretty smokin girl there, your wife? If so, just do whatever she says!

Re: 1972 Deluxe with Humbucker
Didnt the cherryburst start in 73?
Anyway, you have the most awsome collection there! Love the Les Pauls, you have a very good taste. And the video where Jimmy Bowskill played your goldtop was incredible, exactly the kinda music I like.

Re: 1972 Deluxe with Humbucker
Awesome photography, I also like the subtle "smokes and JD" in the 3rd shot. haha, talk about adding atmosphere.
The focus is so frigging sharp....my goodness how do you do that? ...ya ya, a $4500 lens. I need to stop spending all my money on guitars, race cars and women...and upgrade my lens. |
