Possible Purchase
Looking at buying an 1989 LP Standard that has been re-topped a Goldtop from an Original Tobacco Burst Besides that everything is original. I just have a few questions:
How good are the HB-L and HB-R Pickups Were 89 standards Weight relieved? is $1695 a fair price for the only thing changed is the re-top?

Re: Possible Purchase
I saw your ad in the classified. Here is one I found based on your budget and what you wanted. It is pretty nice. Hope this helps.

Re: Possible Purchase
I was going to drive up to Jax to see this guitar last week, but work sucked me back into the vortex, even though I'm on vacation. '89's have a solid rep. The pics look good. The guitar looks to be in pretty good nick, and the refin looks like it was done correctly - without seeing it personally. I was prepared to offer him $1500 cash. He claims he won't go any lower on the price, but as quickly as he dropped the ask, I'd be willing to bet he will.
BTW, just about everything from '82 onward, I believe, will be weight relieved. Have heard a lot of good things about the Bill Lawrence circuit board pickups. Now that Shaws have blown up, they're probably next on the bubble...
