New, old, guitar day: '75 Custom

After several days of research, playing, more research, more playing, more playing, more playing... I laid out the money for a 1975 Les Paul Custom (verified year with pots - all 4 good). I traded a 2005 Classic as part of the deal and have no regrets.

Yes-much better then the 2005 Classic. That was a nice guitar, but sounded too thin.

send a PM to Jonesy I'm sure he will clear up he mystery as to what type of caps they are, the original caps would have been the ceramic discs, so it looks like some one upgraded them.

Nice, is that Nashville or ABR? I've been looking for a wine red original ABR Custom forever...

Re: New, old, guitar day: '75 Custom

Congratulations and HNGD!

Very nice looking guitar. It looks like it has been well cared for.

While the 2005 may have been nice, this one is definitely a few steps up.

Enjoy!

some one has removed the metal baseplate and cover, it is a common mod that you often see.

Thanks Brit! She's not as original as I thought, but that's fine. I played it for an hour last night and like her even more.

I like her the way she is, but if it bothers you, then you can easily find original parts, I often see the parts on Ebay,

Well this is interesting! Could standards and customs have different cavities?

Sure. in the years of 74 and 75 Les Pauls and especially Customs were made in both Kalamazoo and Nashville, everything was in transition. Mahogany to maple necks, ABR to Nashville bridge, transitional to rocker tenon, thick vs. thin binding in the cutaway, side dot markers. Pick an attribute and you can find an exception. Anything (almost) is possible

This is a 76 Custom Cavity that is qute similar to the Deluxe shown by 'HotBrit'
