Show your Heritage 80!
They're some of the prettiest guitars Gibson's made. I'll start off with my two - the '82 Standard is left and the '80 Elite is right. Looks like they worked out the pointy horn issues over the life of the run...

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
Damn! I nearly bought one not too long ago. It was slightly overprice but just as pretty as these guitars. I regret not buying it. Stunning guitars! Especially this one

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
This my 1982 Elite. It was in bad condition when i bought it. It missed the Bridge pickup, the neck cover, there was a Kahler removed (look between the bridge and tailpiece - quite a good wood job), a korean bridge, a golden tailpiece and no truss rod cover. Little holes in the peghead from the string clamp.

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
My 1980 H80 Std is one of the plainer ones.
![]() I got it a year and a half ago, and other than the frets it was completely stock. I made a very few minor mods since: Faber BSW kit for the Nashville and locking studs for the TP. Removed the covers of the Shaws to get just a bit more top end, and added a ground wire. ![]() It sounds completely amazing. If she didn't weight a ton she would be my #1 LP. |

Mine has also the BSW Kit, locking studs, alu tailpiece and locking ABR from Faber. If you upgrade the volume pots to CTS (preferable higher measured than 500k) like i did, you get more air and highs and could reinstall the cover - just for the looks. Highly recommended. My Elite weighs 9 lb 4 oz (4.2 kilo) |

I bought a Faber ABR for the guitar, but didn't like the looks. The neck angle is a bit steep and the smaller bridge didn't look right all the way up there. But the other changes made sense: there was a lot of free play between the posts and the tailpiece and between the Nashville thumbwheels and the inserts. Still the guitar sounded amazing ! But with the changes it sounds just a bit better. I also thought about changing the pots, I believe it comes with 300K volume and 100K tone. But the solder joints are unbroken, and I'm happy with the sound I got just by removing the covers, so I opted for leaving it unmolested. It is heavy. Almost ridiculously heavy: 4.9 Kg, 10.8 lbs There is a thread around here where the OP claims that by removing all the metal shielding from the cavities his guitar lost more than a pound. It would be great, but I find it very difficult to believe that the metal parts weight THAT much. |

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
Wow, great photos everyone! Thanks for sharing your photos of one of Gibson's real success stories, the Heritage Series Les Pauls.
My 1981 Heritage Series 80 Elite, a big favourite of mine in both the look and sound department, although I must admit she is in amongst some real lookers on this forum. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

EDIT: Oh, yeah, they were also the first guitars to have the Tim Shaw designed PAF pickups.

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
I know that Gibson could be pretty random in putting parts in but is it safe to say a Heritage made on the 343 day of 1980 would have the ink stamp 137/138 PAF installed?

Re: Show your Heritage 80!
Researching my elite. It was made at the end of June 1980. Pots date to the 10th week in 80. Shaws are date stamped June 11th ,18th 1980. Low production #.
So does having a low production #(stamped on back of HS.) mean that it was an early release or were these #`s issued at random? |
