I bought a Faber ABR for the guitar, but didn't like the looks. The neck angle is a bit steep and the smaller bridge didn't look right all the way up there. But the other changes made sense: there was a lot of free play between the posts and the tailpiece and between the Nashville thumbwheels and the inserts. Still the guitar sounded amazing ! But with the changes it sounds just a bit better.

I also thought about changing the pots, I believe it comes with 300K volume and 100K tone. But the solder joints are unbroken, and I'm happy with the sound I got just by removing the covers, so I opted for leaving it unmolested.

It is heavy. Almost ridiculously heavy: 4.9 Kg, 10.8 lbs

There is a thread around here where the OP claims that by removing all the metal shielding from the cavities his guitar lost more than a pound. It would be great, but I find it very difficult to believe that the metal parts weight THAT much.
I dont have a heritage 80 to show but...

I read the thread you refer to about removing the shielding and I didnt really believe it so I tried it and I also lost 1lb in weight from my 81 custom.
I weighed the removed parts on a digital scales and compared the ones that were to be the replacements and its a total of 1lb in weight in difference I also weighed the guitar before and after
that 1lb makes a significant difference to how heavy the guitar feels and its enough that it stops my back ache.

one of the biggest culprits is the tailpiece.
the tailpiece on my 81 custom weighed 5 oz I replaced it with a faber which only weighs 1 oz so thats a quarter of a pound saved ,
by the time you remove all the cavity control shielding the shielding can for the jack and shielding for the three way switch and pickup covers and then change the pots you will lose a pound .
for example changing the pots on my custom resulted in a saving of 1.7 oz
it doesent sound much until you put it all together ...... then it makes a difference
a word of warning though removing the shield for the three way switch is tricky but there is a technique for doing it which will give you less of a headache if you try it
the only thing I changed that didnt make any difference to the weight was the bridge.
I bought a faber abr and it weighed exactly the same as the nashville but... all the other stuff made up a 1 lb weight loss
which was enough of a difference for me to decide to keep the guitar instead of selling it
by the way your heritage 80 guitar is stunning .....

Yep, first "official" shot at a production run "Re-issue" and lovely looking instruments too I must say. Not "vintage correct" as you mention but then none of the "experimental" stuff that preceded them was either.

You do realize that this now requires you to post pics of ALL OF THEM, don't you? Can't wait to see them. And it's cool to have a nest of Heritage 80 activity in Denmark. Very cool.

Re: Show your Heritage 80!

Welcome! Why don't you start up a new thread for pics of the early reissues? That way we can get to know you better and see some more cool guitars. I know there's quite a few around here. Here's yours - nice:

Pretty cool quilt, huh? Straight on, it almost looks like a snake belly.

Meanwhile, I'm raising cash for another purchase and wouldn't be opposed to selling it. Ping me if you're interested...

I would appreciate it if fellow forum members could point me in the direction of a sale for one of these. I've been looking on and off for 3 years now. There are just a couple currently that I know of, but I'm not getting too excited for one reason or another. Thanks.

It's an Elite from late July 1980. The top makes me smile every time I open the case.

Re: Show your Heritage 80!

Those are great looking guitars. I have a metallic red heritage standard 80 elite that is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard. The only problem is I can't find any info on it.
