Tele? ME?

Not a big Tele fan, until last night......

Liquid Metal guitars sent me this so that I could play it at last night's gig...

...and I can say that I am BLOWN AWAY. Killer neck, killer fretwork and the carved out aluminum body WORKS. The Duncans are perfect in this guitar. As a wood snob, I expected it to be brash and brittle sounding. I was a James Trussart dealer for a while, and dismissed these guitars as the same thing. Boy, was I wrong. It's resonant as hell and a wonderful sounding and feeling guitar. Are we going to have to start talking tonemetals?

The surface is smooth as glass with the texture milled into it and then a clearcoat(the same stuff Mercedes uses on their alloy wheels!) is applied. In the stage lights, it looks like it's alive.

More details soon.

Interesting. I can envision the possibilities when anodizing is used.

Re: Tele? ME?

The Liquid Metal Guitar weighs in at around 8lbs 10oz so it's lighter than a lot of Les Pauls.

If anyone in the UK wants to check one out I have in stock three of the model Greg played as well as the M1 and a 'T' with a Bigsby.

I too am a big vintage nut and appreciate it's all about great tone and believe it or not these guitars do stand up against the best and have a weight to the sound I've not heard from anything else.

Check em out.

Re: Tele? ME?

Everybody comes round to a Tele eventually, Greg. A certain friend/employer of mine who's been a Gibson guy forever bought 3 or 4 of them last year.

A Tele won't replace your Junior, but it's another nice flavor to have around.

Another victim of the Tele's evil powers!
Those things are special, they do not look like, say, a Les Paul, they're simple, flat... still, they get you! Play one, you're doomed!

It was probably a lounge or other small/medium gig. Some bands use plexishields to keep the drums from overwhelming the audience. Also if a band mics the drummer then they'd use those shields so they can better modulate the volume.

That or maybe the drummer is just paranoid!

I agree...there seems to be some magical relationship between tele and LPs...IMHO they both have a simular acoustic guitarish type sound in there upper harmonics...that alows for a simular attack...that doesn't sound hollow like a strat or thin like a SG or V...of course I do not have the equpment to do an mathmatical anaylisis....no wait, I do have a program to reverse engeer synth sounds...what computer am I running freescope on???? I wounder if I should take a look at their harmonic structure????

Here's a little taste of the LMG T afore we hear more from Greg. So far I like what it has to say.

but, I have been know to be crazy
